If you have a shop called Piebury Corner which is designed to take in most of its revenues on match days because fans eat pies innit, like it or not you are going to be reliant on football fans coming out to watch the games.

And in the 11-12 years that the Emirates has been in operation and with Highbury stadium before that it’s fair to say that there wasn’t anywhere near such a malaise.

I don’t think in such circumstances it’s unreasonable for small business owners to come to the conclusion that “if you sack him, they will come”
