I like the caption in the video “they ignored social distancing as they brawled”
How on earth do you brawl while obeying social distancing rules?

That aged well BREAKING: Macron’s aides say he is so bright and has read so much that he is now France's top authority on coronavirus, and can do without experts

It's April's Fools so this might be a joke, but finally Keir Starmer has hinted he might, as opposition leader, provide some opposition to the rampaging government. A system of medical apartheid might be "Un-British", he reckons. Well there's a thought. Barring a minority of people from interacting with the society they are forced to pay for because they want to exercise medical control over their own body MIGHT be a step too far down the authoritarian trail. He's going to look at the details before deciding whether to do his job or not. The stench that can't be removed, Sturgeon, is "thinking" about the issue (when did she start thinking about anything?), the leader of Wales who nobody can name reckons there might be moral issues involved (you don't say?) and the media is still deciding which position will yield the most clicks and ad revenue.
Tyranny is a complex business.

The government is helping to open up the hospitality industry by nailing its coffin shut. As an undoubtedly unintended bonus they get to track and trace half the population.
We're going into the warmer seasons where all respiratory illness falls away, we've got the magic vaccine, most of us are immune anyway (though the human immune system is rapidly becoming a conspiracy theory), so now is the perfect time to create more restrictions and anti-privacy abuses.
This is DEFINITELY about the virus. There's no way it could possibly be about anything else.

One positive though - the curfews that will never happen won't be reinstated. Thank you Mr Government, for not telling us when to go to bed. This proves the government loves us.

And even though the COVID passports that are a creation of conspiracy theory crackpots and are being thought about by the state will now "definitely" (Boris "The Red" Johnson) be required for international travel, it might be un-British to require people to report themselves to the state as they go about their lives by having them swipe their "smart" phones at checkpoints which will never happen. That's good. Instead they will be forced to report themselves to the state as they go about their lives by having them swipe their "smart" phones at checkpoints which will never happen. There's a huge difference, one is called a COVID Passport, the other isn't. I knew the state would err on the side of liberty and marketing strategy.

Meanwhile, in the courts, the state and its hired thugs were yet again called to account for their unlawful behaviour. For the SIXTH time in 70 odd years the courts have clearly stated you DO NOT have to give your personal details to state thugs unless they know or have reasonable suspicion you are engaged in unlawful activity. Walking on the street is not an unlawful act, yet. Maybe the state claims otherwise but the courts have yet again said no.
So when the hired thugs demand your details, ignore them and walk away. They can't do anything about it, unless they themselves decide to break the law. In which case, by the terms of the Constables' Oath, you can sue them personally. Most coppers don't know that, so remind them if you get hassled and they want to make a deal of it.
It seems, so far, the courts are the one body that has survived this slide into authoritarianism. Whether the government will obey the courts is another matter. If it doesn't, we have a right to overthrow and replace.
