We shouldnt forget that martinez only played half a season. So 20m offet comes in when your first choice was still doing well seems a no brainrr. I think alot of hindsight is going on here. Leno has declined since then and not it looks a bad bit of business. At the time it made sense.

I understand why they did - we needed money for Partey, and it was a choice between selling Emi or selling Ainsley to raise funds. Given that we had two strong keepers at the time I can see why they went the way they did. It’s just a bit sickening to look back on it now, given how last season went, with Partey absent for most of it and Ainsley deciding he didn’t want to play RB any more - literally couldn’t have turned out any worse!
