People in the UK, particularly England, repeatedly vote against their own interests.
NOTE: The location of this post has been moved and the thread title (which was previously Wenger is Leaving) has been manipulated by a notorious pro-Wenger moderator. What was previously a message that contained no profanity and made a comment on a real life event has now been manipulated by a deliberately provocative title. An old and crude propaganda and censorship technique.
To be fair, none of the options are ever that appealing.
Or, rather, with FPTP none of the credible options are.
Name the last government that served the people - any time in history will do and a single example will be sufficient.
The truth is, if you end up with any government at all you deserve the fruits of your complacency and cowardice. Even worse, most people support a single, global government. Maybe not in name, but in all the horrific globalist policies continuously rolled out.
The species can't move on until this problem is solved. Things can only get worse because that's the design and very nature of government.

There are lots of governments around the world that actually serve the people both currently and historically. Problem is, as soon as these governments emerge the US and it scallywag coterie of Europeans coup them ar attemp to. HOw many around the world even in just the last century. I saw a video recently that showed the US has couped some countries in latin America almost 7 times in their history. In Africa we have lost so many martyrs in the last 60 years. I know you will scream, "Communist" but thats what they were labeled, not what they actually were. In reality these were leaders who simply didnt want multinational carting away natural resources for pennies and murdering the people who helped extract them.
Today. Russia has a leader whose prinary focus is on the betterment of his people and thats why they hate Putin. There are no Oligarchs in Russia anymore. They all ran away after Putin threatened to make each one 10 inches shorter. Do your business but dont venture into politics. China is a capitalist economy with a communist government. They have to be because you can see for yourself when money is allowed to vote and have an equal or more than equal say than actual human beings. You cant buy government policies in either Russia or China.
The only role of government is to provide an enabling environment for talented people to emerge and grow their potential and to curb the excesses of run-amok rich people also to help ordinary people out of poverty.
AMLO is doing a great job in Mexico too as was the former president of Bolivia Evo Morales.....then he got couped of course.
I remember when Corbyn ran the last time in 2019. Someone on these pages was wailing that all his Jewish friends were sorely afraid that the next day they would all wake up in a Gulag if he won.
People who vote Conservative are in my mind Wannabe`s. They wanna be like the rich Conservatives, not because they like their policies but because they would rather be the ones dishing out the pain than receiving it. They hope than by luck or serendipity they will find themselves able to look down on people that they used to hang out with. The Conservatives do not have a single principle or tenent that edifies humanity. They just want to keep the status quo going in perpetuity, same goes for Republicans and the fake opposition Democarts.
Conservatives are like Count Dracula who shows up at your doorstep fangs and all and tells you he is in the neighbourhood to start up a blood bank and he needs your support. You foolishly vote for him because he speaks very well and you like the cut of his jib. Guess who`s blood is going to be in the bank?
My younger brother votes Conservative. I keep asking him why. He says he does it to keep those jokers the Labour party out of power. He may have a point about them being jokers.

Many movements have advocated for the common man and some even succeeded in seizing power, by fair means or foul. Gandhi springs to mind and a rare example of peaceful transition for a noble purpose. But this is always during the struggle and the formative stage. What ALWAYS happens when government matures? No matter the formative agenda or intention? Essentially you overthrow the immoral concept of superior rights for the minority with an initially altruistic road trip to the same destination. Government by its very nature can only be immoral. As soon as one human being uses coercion to direct the life of another all good intention is washed away. This isn't a political argument, it's a logical inevitability.
You are very wrong about Russia and China. These are two of the most corrupt nations on the planet, depending on how you define corruption. By western definition they are corrupt because they attempt to retain control of their labour force, consumer base, economic policy and (above all else) banking system thus depriving western corporate interests of vast profit potential. This was the very basis of the globalisation movement and economic "alignment" that led to such hardship for the common people in both nations. Both were powerful enough to resist and therein lies the real root of the love/ hate relationship. But Putin will happily roll around with any oligarch that supports his agenda, and indeed much of his power base is still underpinned by those oligarchs. Those who oppose him, usually because their greed exceeds their wisdom, get the chop (as you point out). It's a mafia style relationship. If you are on the bosses team you can rule your empire as you see fit. The privileged members of the Chinese Communist Party enjoy obscene levels of corruption that rival Wall Street. They live outside the society they have caged their fellow civilians in, focusing on the cities and towns and leaving vast swathes of the nation destitute, scratching out miserable existences that differ very little from Mao's great a murderous revolution.
These are not nations to aspire to, although they do provide a necessary counterbalance to the vile excess of vampire regimes like the US and the resurgently criminal UK.
I thought you might have pointed to Greece, two thousand years ago. Maybe the closest we ever came to justifying the centralisation of privilege and human rights. I say justifying, not validating, because government can never be valid or legitimate for as long as a single member of the governed withholds consent.

The gradual, uninterrupted devolution of power from the centre to the individual, facilitated by radical reform of all the establishment institutions that exist solely to preserve the status quo. Why do you think I despise the media? And the EU? And the globalisation project? And net zero carbon bullshit? And censorship? And the abuse of the education systems and the health systems? Etc, etc, etc.
None of these institutions operate for the benefit of society, they are all gatekeepers for a higher society that dictates to the lower society. You can't change anything while each new generation is so ruthlessly indoctrinated. So change must begin with these corrupted and inverted institutions.
