I do understand some self-preservation in the spirit of “it’s the hope that kills you”. But the title is not only still a mathematical possibility, it’s still in our hands. City are looking ominous but they could still slip. I’m going up to be pretty gutted if we don’t do it but also pretty proud of how we’ve done this year.

We didn’t need a win on Sunday

As I’ve said we only need to avoid defeat against City and Newcastle. And win the rest….

I felt a win would have been a bonus but we needed to avoid defeat on Sunday and we did that. We played badly, we gave away a two goal lead but still got the result we needed.

We played well for 40 mins but failed to get the job done, that tells you all you need to know

We need to beat Newcastle not draw and even then it won't be enough

In reality City are only three pts behind because of a game in hand, plus better GD

Again going back to your point you made earlier, if we lose to them at the Etihad we don’t deserve the title and maybe you’re right.

And even then, even if they beat us they cannot afford to drop any points…and to suggest they definitely won’t well it’s possible but it’s not nailed on.

We are still in control of our own destiny. And you seem fixated on this one game which I repeat we didn’t have to win…it’s disappointing for sure that we didn’t and we got it wrong substitution wise. What seemed likely to me is that we would need to take something from city in one of the fixtures we played them to win the title, so that’s our shot. Anfield wont determine whether we win the title or not, it’s just a long sulk on your part…I did it when we lost to Everton which was more egregious to me than not winning at Anfield.

Everything else being equal it's a "must not lose" than a must win. And these runs have to end at some point. I am worried about the way we lost to them at home though. Last season we were brilliant against City and I thought the ref robbed us. Not this season. First half we stood toe to toe with them, second half they just went up a gear and ran over us. I fear more of the same in a couple of weeks. If you lose both games against your rivals for the title then you don't really deserve it anyway.
