Back to Merino, everything I see of him reinforces my comnparison with Xhaka - not a carbon copy perhaps but he's there to do a similar bovver-boy role of running around, breaking up play and getting into the box to score the odd goal

I can see he's got some uses but certainly an odd priority last summer instead of a forward or attacking winger

The comparison is apt in that both are slow, one footed and not particularly great with the ball at their feet. I think Xhaka has a larger range of passing ability
