I do agree that AW is largely to blame for why some of our fans don't think a proper leader on the field is important.
As far as I'm concerned, the last good captain we had was Vieira and since then its mostly been downhill, which can obviously be seen from our fortunes and how the team has reacted to adversity over and over again
Let's not forget that we once had a captain under him who staged a one man protest while the game was still going on!! 20 years later, I'm not sure anything has come close to that

I don’t think so. First off it wasn’t that Wenger didn’t make leaders into captains (Koscielny was captain in his last season and he was the nearest thing we had to a leader) it’s just we didn’t have leaders in the team
Plus Messi was Captain of Argentina, couldn’t find less of a leader
Same with Ronaldo (although admittedly that’s harming Portugal now)
Speaking of Ødegaard I thought he'd have taken the number 10
Brings to mind that quote on the benefit of staying silent to avoid erasing the iota of doubt in people's minds....just saying
On the eve of the new campaign, Odegaard was asked about his leadership style and revealed details of what he believes makes him such an effective leader.
He told Sky Sports: ‘It’s a lot to be fair. It’s a lot of small things. It’s hard to describe it, it’s more like a constant role you do.
‘There’s always these small things you have to do. In general it’s just how I see it is to get the best out of the team and how to give the team the right mindset. Help the players around you, get the best mindset in everyone.
‘I think before the game just on the pitch I do a little one (team talk) and inside the dressing room we have different people talking.
‘It’s not just me there’s a lot of people sharing the responsibility and the manager does a lot as well. It’s a shared thing. It’s not just me all the time.’
Adams’ view, meanwhile, clearly holds little water with Arteta who launched a passionate defence of Odegaard ahead of Sunday’s blockbuster against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Can't remember what thread it was, but I got universally hounded for suggesting the evolution of Artetaball and his billion quid project was that we are increasingly going Route One, glad to know the BBC has picked up on it too.
The sad part is that he can't even claim it as an original idea as apparently it seems Pep has been doing it too(something I must admit I hadn't noticed).
So once again, Arteta proving he's still attached to the apron strings![]()
not quite emulating Guardiola, Guardiola has a midfield trio of Rodri, Bernardo and Reinjders. We’ve gone with the toilet strain trio.
