Arsenal are 1st in the BPL Missed Chances table with 52 clear-cut chances missed. City are 2nd with 21 less (31).
No.....give him till May then sign an actual world class forward.
Seriously though...I'd rather he remained, but with a lot more application than we're seeing right now and If somebody better comes in then I will make my peace with it....
I am not in the band of people who thought we should fancifully show him the door a few years ago as Chamberlain had it all to surpass him and suffice to say, The Ox has done little to dissuade me since.
I thought his movement was pretty good in the last game and if we're making omissions based on missing chances in the last game, we'd be playing the academy for this one. He is more than capable of scoring against any opponent this league has and even going on a run. His fluffed lines recently have almost entirely been down to confidence.
The one and only time you've been impressed with Theo was when he was playing as a striker. He really isn't a winger and playing on the left hasn't helped him either.
But you'd really persist with Giroud until.the end of the season? Having him as a striker really impacts the way we play as a team. It's not even as if he's missing chance after chance. It's difficult for anyone to break him in on goal so he can have a shot. We're having to loop in balls and crosses so he gets an opportunity. We can't play like that and need to try something different.
Wenger was in the press saying he won't sign a striker or that it's not his priority. I hope that's just hot air. As for Theo, I think he needs to go away and work on his fitness. Just as people were starting to see the difference he makes to our style of play as a striker he gets injured.
I remember the Ox comparisons as well and you were one of the few that said to wait and see. Now look. People are saying we should sell Ox. I agree with you on Theo but I'm losing my patience. He missed his chance on goal last week but that isn't what annoys me. It's the lack of productivity after that. He's not looking for the ball enough. Played in a couple of good crosses but that was it. He's stopped driving at players and is total focussed on off the ball runs. Even as a striker, he needs to learn when to come deep to help link up play and when to go long.
Must. Win. Game.
0-2
I have this nasty feeling that if we sold Theo some other manager could get something out of him. Same with Ox. It would be so depressing to see them realising their potential elsewhere. I think that's the fear of a lot of Arsenal fans and it's why I didn't want him to go the last time it was being speculated. But this season both have been so poor. Like they have taken a giant step backwards. It's shocking really. Our reserve team got relegated, apparently. I didn't know that. Nothing seems to be coming through the ranks. We can't get the players we claim to have made onto the pitch because they are forever injured. Something is seriously wrong at this club and Theo and Ox are symptoms.

We have to persist with Giroud, he's the only one getting the goals. You know how it goes with Walcott. Even if we stuck him up front and he started banging the goals in - and there's zero indication that would happen right now - you KNOW what would happen. The only reason Theo is not injured right now is because he's decide not to participate when he's on the pitch.

I'm only talking about the short term. The next few games. Forget worrying about what might happen with injuries. If we come out to another slow start then the manager has to shake things up. You often complain about the slow pace and tippy tappy we play. You must see how Giroud style plays a part in that? He has to come out for this game looking explosive. More goals like that 2nd goal against Liverpool if he insists on playing with his back to goal. Take the initiative.
