That depends on the quality of the livestock, in Suarez's case, the talent is far more worth the risk than say someone who has a questionable temprement but is perfunctory as a footballer, like say M'Vila.

Also, costs more than we can afford? That's not correct - the new TV deal is something like three times in excess of the previous one, allied with the new sponsorship deals we have coming in and the one with Puma. We clearly have more money than before and have got rid of a lot of wage wasters.

we ddo have more money its true. Doesnt mean we shuld piss it up the wall, and thats what lining the scousers pocket for this guy would be (in my opinion anyway).
We do however need to make a statement, so as to show otehr players its worth coming to arsenal. With that in mind, id literally go large and get tubbers from united if we really have to.

I think he is past it, but a change is as good as a rest so maybe an indian summer pretentding to be anders limpar could work out for us. WOuld sell some shirts and put us back on the map in the right sort of way at least

I don't think it's pissing it up the wall, no more so than buying Gervinho and then selling him after two seasons with little to no contribution (and all the others we have let go this summer for very little).

It's simple really, the rewards are greater but it's true, the risks are greater too. You have to take those risks if we're ever to reach a higher level, in this league.

In any case, it wouldn't be £50 million up front, these kinds of deals never are.

As an alternative, I could live with Rooney but I think, he hasn't really indicated any kind of interest in joining us, whereas Suarez has (regardless of his intentions). And Man Utd, selling us a player of quality? I know Moyes is new to the job but he's not going to do something like that.

It's better to burn out, than to fade away.

Hmmm yeah but he's really a bad example of a footballer which says a lot.

To some degree yes, but they don't all go to the lengths he goes to or get themselves into trouble all the time like he does. As I've said he's done this kind of thing before, there's not a lot of footballers that take clubs to tribunals and threaten them.

gervinho was a calculated risk. we paid what 15 and sold for 7? shame he was so shit but 7ish mill doesnt kill us.
If suarez fails like torres ostensibly did we cant write off 40-50 mill like chelsea can. Nor can we wait for him to come good - arsenal have hyped this up and painted themselves into a corner. people are not just clamouring for a massive signing but also expecting that to deliver the league by tea time.

PS 50 million up front or spread over time is still 50 mill out the door
