I know how it works, for sure. They pluck a figure every season. I'm not saying the £20mill is the real figure, I'm saying it's worrying the media guesstimate has gone down. I'd expect them to be saying Wenger has a £120mill kitty or something in that region, as they usually go with whatever makes the biggest headline. £20mill sounds very reserved for the media. Makes me wonder if the real budget is £17.50.

Which raises another, horrifying, issue. If it has taken Arteta to get injured for him to seriously talk about signings does it mean he thinks this squad would be good enough if Arteta had stayed fit?

Of course. Just last week he said we wouldn't need new signings if everyone was fit. It's not a shock. We went into the season with no backup CB and we'd have no back up striker if Giroud didn't do us a favour and get injured.

Seems like he has a solid record but it's a different league. I respect what they do other in La Liga but I think buying a defender from another league is risky for a January window. I'd prefer Reid. This guy might be really good given time but I think he'll struggle in our backline. The language barrier is another issue.
