    Gold Medal
Irene Wust (Netherlands) wins women's 3,000m speed skating

Irene Wust, dressed in orange, hugs her team as the final pairing fail to beat her time. The Dutchwoman is the Olympic champion, with defending champion Martina Sablikova settling for silver and Olga Graf winning Russia's first medal of the Games with bronze.
    Well done to her.

One thing I don't quite get...are they not allowed to play other national anthems in Russia?

GB women lost in curling 6-4 to Sweden.

GB men are currently playing Sweden but are losing.

Charles Hamelin of Canada won gold in the short track 1,500m. GB's Jack Whelbourne crashes out and injured himself.

Han Tianyu of China got silver and Viktor Ahn of Russia gets bronze.

    Alpine Skiing
    Women's super combined

A second gold of the Games for Germany thanks to Maria Hoefl-Riesch. Nicole Hosp won silver for Austria (+0.40) with American Julia Mancuso (+0.53) taking bronze.

    Gold Medal
Martin Fourcade (France) wins men's 12.5km pursuit

Such is his handsome lead, Martin Fourcade takes a moment to raise his arms in the air as he approaches the final 100m. He glides over the finishing line and triumphantly removes his skis. Ole Einar Bjoerndalen was fourth.

A bunch of tired-looking athletes, gasping for breath, are now crossing the finishing line. There'll be plenty of lactic in those legs. Czech Republic's Ondrej Moravec takes silver while France's Jean Guillaume Beatrix will join his compatriot on the podium to collect the bronze.

Some of it shamlessly stolen from the BBC.

Michel Mulder (Netherlands) wins men's 500m speed skating

Jan Smeekens raises his hands in the air as he crosses the line. The Dutchman thinks he has won but he hasn't. Michel Mulder, who is 10 minutes younger than twin brother Ronald, has won it by the narrowest of margins - just 0.01 seconds!

There is no stopping the Netherlands in the speed skating events in Sochi. The Dutch have now won seven out of nine speed skating medals, as Jan Smeekens (pictured) take silver and and Ronald Mulder the bronze.
