i think if we had come in with a £45m+ bid from the off this would of had a much better chance of happening. Instead of pissing off the selling club by trying to force their hand with some sort of internal dispute with their best player in the lead up to the start of the season.

the idea was that this was wengers last gasp attempt to go all out in style, able to do what he never has before and push out the boat. but he and the directors have fucked it up. big time.

I didn't think it would annoy us as much as it has. Maybe there was an air of smugness that you knew of this supposedly secret clause in his contract, in the way you presented your second bid.

Granted, it had been in the press, but Wenger doesn't strike me a someone who would chance his arm on something he read in the papers. I'd have thought there would have been some sort of confirmation for Suarez' camp.

Either way, something has hardened our stance dramatically. Though given JWHenry's comments that he had told Gazidis to sod off even before your first bid, I doubt even £45m would have been enough. Might not have annoyed us so much though, as you say.

at the very least we've managed to destabilise a rival for 4th place. I suspect this bid was never more than theatre anyway.

We're just waiting till all the more expensive players are sold or unavailable, once we get there we can move in on our real targets the nobodies from the French league who will cost peanuts.

I think your lot are pissed because it's Arsenal bidding. Realistically only our Champs Lge spot is up for grabs so if you sold us Suarez you'd have no chance of getting it. I reckon selling to Chelsea or City would have been more likely.

As it's only shitty old Arsenal who never win anything and scrape 4th on the last day it probably pisses your club off that your best player is seemingly wiling to join us.
