Fucking hell, England finally into a tournament final for the first time in most of our lifetimes.
Incredible atmosphere tonight, kind of wish I had paid that grand for the final tickets now because it’s going to be electric!
Don’t think it should be understated what a great job Southgate has done, laughed off by most after his appointment but he’s turned us into a genuinely decent team. It was a close game tonight but I didn’t once feel like we were wobbling and ready to cave in. The way we kept the ball at the end too to see it out - this is a very competent team and it says a lot that we still haven’t conceded a goal from open play.
Italy is of course a massive test but I think the final is a bit of a coin toss, could easily go either way.
Nerves are going to be shredded.![]()

Must have been amazing being there.
Well jell, as the kids are possibly saying.
We were not impressive in the group but have grown in to the tournament and we were good last night. We looked like a proper team but as the game went on it was feeling all a bit like ‘96. First 10 minutes we were the better side but then Denmark got in to the game and when we went 1-0 down I feared for us. We didn’t panic though and deserved our equaliser. We had our chances in the 90 minutes but I felt we’d be fresher in extra time with Denmark already having made all their subs. The penalty was soft, but there’s no doubt we deserved to be in front. Denmark pushed a bit after that but after a jittery few minutes we controlled it again and our game management towards the end when we kept the ball so well was excellent.
Really hard to call the final. Italy our biggest test so far but with home advantage…
COME ON, ENGLAND!!
There's no question Italy are a better team but agreed England have grown into the tournament - Sterling has been our player of the tournament and Saka has been execellent too, albeit frustratingly subbed a few times. i'll always hate Kane not just because of Spuds but because he's a moronic cheating arsehole, but he's doing a good job finally to justify all the faith in him
if the game on Sunday is only 90 mins then that will probably mean Italy have won, but if we can take it beyond that we'll have a real chance IMO
Yeah, I really struggle to support Kane (esp. when we're in that vile white and navy blue combo). The cheating I can turn a blind eye to - that doesn't shock any more - but what I can't ignore is his little party trick of deliberately going under players when they jump for headers. He knows exactly what he's doing with that and it's a shitty thing to do to a fellow pro - only a matter of time before he seriously hurts someone, and when he does we'll have to sit through all of the nauseating, Shawcrossesque wailing of how "it was an honest challenge" and "he's not that kind of player."
Still, you can't argue with the rest of the package you get with him - goals, assists, key passes and strong hold-up play. He's going to be a massive loss to the spuffs if/when he leaves - I can see them having to sign at least 2, and maybe even 3 players to fully replace everything they'd be losing.
If Italy stick with a back 4 then I reckon we have a decent chance - if they change to a back 3 with wingbacks then I think we might struggle, because 90% of our threat always seems to come from crosses and headers. Shut our full-backs down and I worry for us a little bit.
One thing I’ve noticed but maybe its just me, but there seems to be a conscious effort on the part of referees not to issue bookings unless they are really left with no choice.
Yesterday teh Danes were fouling all over the place and there were no bookings. There were several cynical fouls stopping counter attacks that to me, should be nailed on yellow cards but nothing. Other games also seem to follow the same patterns.
I understand lettin the game flow but yesterday one of the Danes committed three fouls in quick succession in the final third yet got nothing. It just allowed them to continue with their tactical fouling knowing they wouldn’t get booked.
