I get your point.
I'd rather have Martinez over Leno. Martinez finally got his opportunity and he did well enough to establish himself as our No. 1.
It is such a waste - in a couple of years time, Villa will be selling him for 50-60m. And it'll probably be to Chelsea, United or Liverpool.
MOTD started off unbelievably shit, but quickly got really enjoyable.

Short termism is all the rage these days.
No keeper should, and I’m not say in it will happen, but it could.
All in all, I’m happy Martinez found a starting role. He worked for it and he still wants to do all the right things for the love of playing.
Just wish it was with us, because he worked for it and earned it.

i think we'd have got a good price for Leno, but even if we'd got 5-10m less for Leno than Martinez it wouldn't have stopped anything - let's face it it's pretty obvious that the Kroenkes were always going to make Partey happen
we've let a massive asset go who would have had far greater value to us if we'd kept him and made him No 1
goals prevented = points gained = more revenue for higher league position plus maybe CL

Was too short a run to know if Martinez is going to maintain this form and become a genuinely top keeper. But I also think Leno has been here long enough to show he'll only ever be an average keeper. Too many flaws that show no signs of being corrected. Hard decision, and if Leno doesn't want to leave but Martinez does, that's going to end up being the major factor. Gut tells me Martinez would have saved us a few points whereas Leno will cost us a few points.
