For how long, a year, two years and then we're back to square one when we're stuck in a long drawn out transfer saga and sign noone decent to replace him. I'm not "standing up" for Evra, I'm criticising Suarez's actions in that incident. I don't remember too many people defending John Terry when he racially abused Anton Ferdinand. Or is racism only a problem if it's perpetrated by someone you don't like?

The problem with what you're saying is that people in the public eye influence others, footballers are idolised by kids and if their favourite footballer thinks it's OK to racially abuse someone then maybe the kids will think the same when they play.

There are obviously lots of problems in the world, much worse problems than Suarez, but it doesn't mean we should just ignore his behaviour because it's just football.

I watched it again and Evra clearly brings his hand up to shake Suarez's, Suarez ignores him completely (no eye contact), he makes no attempt to acknowledge him or shake his hand, so he definitely did it on purpose.

He's done it twice now however, I agree about Defoe but since Suarez has been caught doing it twice you can't really argue with the punishment.

You don't have to pay a release clause with your first bid. As you yourself have said, you bid the least you think will be accepted and in that case it wasn't. In any case, we did pay his release clause, so no Swansea weren't "fucked... out of money".
