Sorry Ngibbles.
In seriousness though, I wonder how the fans would take Kenny being sacked. I mean, John W. Henry did say top four was the target didn't he?
Not too kindly. But a bit of fudging with him being "moved upstairs", or even just moving aside - all part of the plan etc might help. I'm sure if we replaced him with a big name and Kenny didn't kick off then it would be relatively quiet. I'm sure there will be some who complain if Wenger left this summer.
I doubt they're that naive to just say "top 4" and expect it to happen in one season, especially as they're meant to be championing a long term plan. Whatever it is.
I'd be surprised if he wasn't given another season personally but then to spend a lot of money and still be in the same position you were two seasons ago (worse than last season currently) isn't exactly the kind of progress you'd be hoping to see after so much investment. Winning the Carling Cup would have given his reign a lot more substance though, it's true.
Thing about Rafa's last season is that we still had the bulk of what was a very good side and imploded. This season we're not doing that bad on the pitch, it's not like we're getting regularly outplayed we're just pathetic in front of goal. Almost the exact opposite of United who play badly and win, we're playing well and not. Which is just as worrying as when under Woy. But not as bad. With Woy we were playing badly and not winning.
I want him to do well, I just don't necessarily think we will do well enough. I don't want him to ruin his image with the club either, (sentimental tosh I know) because whichever way you look at it he is a big part of the club. I'd rather it didn't all end sourly and that he can still leave with a high head. This summer he can do that, imo, whatever happens between now and then.
I know the table is the ultimate arbiter, but then it has been a very weird season.
