Arsene Wenger says his phone is always "red hot" on transfer Deadline Day.

Arsenal sold Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool earlier on Thursday, with Alexis Sanchez set to be the subject of another bid from Manchester City ahead of the 11pm window deadline.

The Gunners are happy with their two summer signings, Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette, and have no interest in Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to Sky sources.

But Wenger insists the last day of the transfer window is always busy as the Arsenal boss.

Sky Sports: Arsenal "agree in principle" to 55 mill + 5 mill add-on deal for Alexis.

We will not be selling him. We will not be selling him unless it is cash plus a player. We want 70 mill. Okay, fuck it then, giz the cash.

Every source saying the gypos would have gone to 70 mill. If this is true then it makes it virtually certain we planned to flog Alexis all along. Clubs that want to keep the player can afford to hold out and prey on the desperation of the buyer (see Monaco and Liverpool). Clubs who want the cash won't risk losing it. I wonder what camp we fall into.

I'd like to add, that wenger also converted the winger, Henry, into a striker.

It was pure genius that has never been replicated since.

For 10 or 14 years, in fact.

But did you know it was his fault Henry was shafted out wide in the first place?

Henry made his debut for Monaco just two weeks before Wenger was sacked as first-team coach in 1994.

He was deployed as a left-winger because of his raw pace and dribbling ability, despite the fact he had been invited to join the academy after a scout witnessed him score six goals in a 6-0 win playing as a centre-forward.

So when Jean Tigana took over as manager he simply left Henry on the wing.

I still don’t understand why he shifts players into wide positions considering he hardly coached Henry when he was a winger. He can’t teach Theo what Henry learned playing wide all those years and then try to switch him to playing as a striker. He only has half of the information because he wasn’t there to school Henry on what makes a great winger.
