Plus the tosser ignored Mexes and V Bommel's repeated fouling, both should have been booked multiple times. Ibrahimovich got whatever he wanted too. That glorified Bendtner only had to look at that ref and the whistle blew. I can fully understand and I fully support Wenger going mental. That ref was a cheat. Whether he was paid by Milan - WHO HAVE A TRACK RECORD OF DOING THIS - or whether he was earning wedge from a gambling syndicate that ref was blatant and he was and remains the worst cheat I've seen since that tool who robbed the chavs. Disgrace and nothing will be done about it. With a decent ref Milan would have had half the possession they ended up with last night.

Disappointing how he has turned out. This season’s Chamakh. I guess it says it all that in the final of a major international tournament, Gervinho - a forward - wouldn’t put himself forward to take a penalty before defenders and kids. He showed little initiative last night.

Yeah. We get on Walcott's back, but at least there is an upside to him being in the team, and he does score good goals. I saw the penalty thing as an indictment too, but we could overlook that if he was doing something different for Arsenal. Gervinho is providing much of the same every week. He is clumsy, not a great goalscorer and doesn't have a genuine physical trait (i.e. Walcott's pace) to cover for it. Plus he clearly shies away from involvement. Improving on him as a first XI player is imperative.

edit: At NQ: Agreed. Really thought we'd be nowhere near 4th place not long ago but now we hope to get 3rd. Maybe the club have succeeded in downgrading our expectations but I don't care right now - just looking forward to fighting for 3rd place, and hopefully we can actually strengthen for the first summer in ages. We seem to have players that do actually like playing for eachother and a captain that wants to be here.

When I watched him step up to take the biggest penalty of our season so far I knew for a fact I would have bottled that and I bet a ton of professional footballers would have too.

Just watched the RvP miss again. The ball was very close to the 'keeper, it wasn't as easy a chance as it looked, he had very little time to decide what to do.
If he'd blasted it, it would just have hit the 'keeper and gone God knows where, dinking it probably was the right choice, he just didn't get the height on it he needed to.

Just watched the replay and he was a bit wrong footed and was not in a position to blast it - as you say, if he had, the keeper was so close it would have just deflected somewhere else. Mind you, he could have blasted it into the keepers face as hard as he could.

Unfortunately, in a dynamic attacking unit last night (Rosicky, Walcott, Oxlade, Van Persie), Gervinho stuck out like a sore thumb. Lots of instances where he immediately looked for Gibbs on the overlap rather than try something himself. Doubt there is much scope for improvement as he is not particularly physically or technically gifted, allied with the cojones aspect.

I think he is as gutless as they come, this is not the type of guy you want on your side when the chips are down. Theo to his credit never stops trying if things aren't working out for him. Gervais must have ran at his marker twice last night from what I can remember, otherwise he was barely involved. Once instance I remember specifically was when we were breaking late in the game and everyone was sprinting to get involved, yet he was jogging and even Gibbs played further forward than him at times.

Most of the time he doesn't even look like he has the ball under control, his legs move faster than his brain does. Incredibly frustrating player because his gangly style can lead to him gliding past players and causing trouble.

Whoeveritwas above to said it's a bit like rock, paper, scissors is right. We're talking split seconds, RvP could have either tried to put it over the 'keeper or either side. He went for 'over' and the 'keeper guessed right. Had the 'keeper dived to his side and saved a side-foot effort people would be saying 'why didn't he dink it over him'?

RvP is the only reason we're in the race for a top 4 finish, slagging him off for not scoring that chance is ridiculous.

TBF Gev is not motivaed here and its showing at least with Lille he had class players to play with and he enjoyed his footie. He was never coming here to score goals or be world class so not sure why people thought that.

Gev is the type of players with qualtiy around him he looks world class, but with shite like we have he won't and never will. Saying that its his 1st season in the prem and should be given time to settle like Theo has been given.
