Added to the fact it will probably be our highest profile game of the season at the Emirates and one that doesn't come cheap for fans. Two games against Bayern was the only exciting thing to come from our group draw, so to undermine ourselves and stick two fingers up at excited fans wanting to see us pitted against the best around would take the piss.

As for the Europa League, the format is crap but it's something we shouldn't look down our noses at. A few years back we would've been happy beating Brum to win the League Cup. A Europa is certainly more distinguishable than the FA Cup in the modern game. Some very good teams have won the trophy over the years and Chelsea didn't look too depressed when they won it recently. Added to the fact we haven't won a thing in Europe for 20 years and our overall history is pretty poor there. That has to change if the club want to be taken seriously as an 'elite' club. I don't think a Thurs/Sun split is any different to a Weds/Sat game and I think there is only one more round of games than the CL. Wenger hasn't won a thing in Europe and should value this competition. If he puts out a weaker team against Bayern and we do end up in the Europa, then I think it's safe to say he won't.
