World Cup hosts Brazil fell to a 1-0 friendly defeat against Switzerland after Dani Alves scored an own goal.
The Barcelona full-back headed into his own net in the 48th minute as Luiz Felipe Scolari's Confederations Cup winners were beaten in Basel.
On a busy night of international friendlies, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 40th goal for Portugal as they drew 1-1 with the Netherlands in Faro.
And Gonzalo Higuain scored as Argentina beat Italy 2-1 in Rome.
Higuain, a target for Arsenal before he secured a £34m move from Real Madrid to Napoli last month, got the first goal before half-time, then created a second for Valencia forward Ever Banega.

Real Madrid forward Ronaldo, meanwhile, struck three minutes from the end to secure a draw for Portugal, who had fallen behind to new Roma signing Kevin Strootman's first-half goal for the Netherlands.
But it was a less satisfying night for Scolari, whose Brazil side had their six-match winning streak ended as Ottmar Hitzfeld guided World Cup qualifying Group E leaders Switzerland to victory.
Elsewhere, Lars Bender's 75th-minute equaliser helped Germany salvage a 3-3 draw at home to Paraguay in Kaiserslautern, having been 2-0 down after less than a quarter of an hour.
Manchester City's striker Edin Dzeko scored twice for Bosnia-Hercegovina at home to the United States in Sarajevo - but still ended up on the losing side as Sunderland's Jozy Altidore hit a second-half hat-trick for the visitors, who had been 2-0 down at half-time.
There was a hat-trick too for Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic - his fourth for his country - as Norway were beaten 4-2 in Solna. Former Southampton midfielder Anders Svensson, now aged 37 and playing in his homeland for Elfsborg, got Sweden's fourth goal.
Erik Hamren's team are third in World Cup Group C, level on points with the fourth-placed Republic of Ireland - who they face in Dublin in their next qualifier on 6 September. Austria, second in that group behind Germany, lost 2-0 at home to Greece.

Svensson's ex-Southampton team-mate Marian Pahars's first match in charge of Latvia ended in a draw - 1-1 away to neighbours Estonia in Tallinn.
Croatia - second in World Cup Group A, which contains Scotland and Wales - had a tricky night against Liechtenstein in Vaduz, twice losing their lead, but came out 3-2 winners thanks to an 86th-minute winner from one-time Arsenal striker Eduardo, now with Shakhtar Donetsk.
Belgium, who are three points clear at the top of that group, were held 0-0 by France in Brussels.
France are currently second in Group I, one point behind leaders Spain, who beat Ecuador 2-0 in Guayaquil, with Manchester City's new striker Alvaro Negredo scoring in the first half and Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla in the second.
England's Group H rivals Ukraine, meanwhile, enjoyed a 2-0 victory in Kiev over Israel - currently third in Northern Ireland's group.
Perennial international strugglers Luxembourg ended an 18-month winless streak with a 2-1 home win over Lithuania.
