I don't want him sacked. I don't think he will be in charge next season though - unfortunately I've been saying that since September.

You're right the league is largely irrelevant. I wouldn't want another season like this. To quote someone like Merse, "the league is the bread and butter, the cups are a sideshow". It's the predictability of it which is worst though; dominate, hit post, lose. It's gone from being unlucky to just being not going enough.

Obviously it's everyone's favourite season, but looking back do you remember it more for the cup wins or for the poor league form?

I honestly remember the poor League form and the Cups equally, but I would say a large part of this perception is down to how god awful the FA Cup final was. It was a real war of attrition and I can't imagine anyone without an emotional investment in either us or Wednesday staying with it right to the final whistle.

Clearly, I was happy with the Cup wins, but the memories of the dirge we watched remained. That said, I wouldn't trade those wins for a slightly better league position!

Strangely enough, I am reading about just this very period in Merson's book, 'How Not to be a Professional Footballer'.

The mod thing? Nothing to read into that.
