Anna Chakvetadze eyes a Russian Political seat

Former fifth ranked player, Anna Chakvetadze has become a candidate for Russia’s Right Cause party in the forthcoming elections for the country. The talented Russian has been fighting with dizziness this season and has been absent from tour since Wimbledon.

The Right Cause Party is struggling as its leader and billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov was kept out from its top spot last week. It has not been confirmed that Chakvetadze would mean and end for her tennis career if elected, but some Russian political analysts are really not seeing it as a possibility. Chakvetadze expressed that she wanted to "try something new" and focus on women's rights and children's sports.

The Right Cause, which is a pro-business party, is believed to have the support of about two percent of the population. The Moscow Times revealed, "Right Cause will pose no threat to the Kremlin after it decided to trade President Dmitry Medvedev for a second-tier female tennis star on its party list for the elections."

TENNIS: World number two Maria Sharapova says her compatriot Anna Chakvetadze's decision to run for the Russian parliament would make it "tough" on her career in the sport. Russian media reported that the 24-year-old had been named as one of the three parliamentary candidates put forward by Russia's Right Cause Party, a pro-business party with limited public support. "I think it obviously takes a lot of time, so it's tough to do two things, two pretty big things at the same time. But if she feels strong about it, obviously it's a personal choice," said Sharapova.

Djokovic has pulled out of next week's China Open.

It's catching up with him now.

Sharapova retired at 4-3 down to Kvitova in the quarters of the Pan Pacific Open.

Knew she'd get battered again so pulled out to avoid further embarassment. What a pub-teamer .
