Whilst I would still give the athletics nod to Tokyo '91, as a whole I think this could well be the greatest sporting event I've ever seen. I know when you think about it there isn't that much by way of competition outside of World Cups/Euros/World Champs, but even so..
A thought to go to kip on. If this was the World Cup (and hell, even the European Championships give or take a day or two), we'd only just be out of the group stage by now... A lesson there Rogge!
Next time, add more sports.
Absolutely fantastic even though I had to enjoy it many miles away. . .really made me want to be back! Little bit gutted that its all over!
Team GB did us proud too, it could have been more but thats sports!sports
Maccy, for posting 10,000+ times
Footie season is round corner and I will be in London in Nov, looking to go to the Spuds game (will be first Emirates)
This sums it up best.
What the hell did vapid fashion shows, pointless rappers, screechy warblers, a procession of cars, a **** on a bus and Anita Dobson's lesser half embarrassing himself for the five thousandth time have to do with sporting achievement? And in what realm would this be a celebration of one's rich culture?
At least it's guaranteed none of these 'stars' will infest Brazil.
Pele to do a two-hour closing concert interspersed with call and response chants of how shit Messi is?
