There's a few stories going around that we were about to tie up a deal for Reus before the WC, but then pulled out and went for Sanchez instead after he got injured. One or two others suggest it could still be on, with Cazorla going to A.Madrid! Pure fantasy football of course, but as there's precious little else Arsenal-wise to talk about at the moment... man, that'd be a tasty forward line!

I can categorically state that we've got no chance with Reus especially as he'd be moving on up.
He's destined for a Barca or Bayern. We don't have the gravitas or pull to get him just yet.

Not sure we've particularly missed out, really. We needed someone top notch, with a lot of place, that is versatile enough to play across the front line, so that if there's an injury to either Giroud or Walcott we wouldn't be hit badly. Sanchez is the same age and a similar talent.
@Ollie - There's a difference though. Ozil was already at arguably the biggest club around and was seen as surplus to them - the only way he could go was down from there and we were lucky in that no one else was interested at that point.
Reus on the other hand will be coveted by the likes of Madrid, Bayern, Barca, Man Utd etc etc as soon as he seems available.
We've made progress but there's still no way we can actively beat the likes of them for a top player's signature.
Everton to sign Lukaku. Fee around £25m. Fantastic signing.
