We watched the game too, though I'm not so sure we're talking about the same game based on what you've posited and is trying to defend to much futility. Therefore, it is not fair for you to argue that we are subscribing to the mediaand whatever opinion they formed post match.
If you take a quick glance at the "Mancs vs Arsenal" thread, you'll see that the views we're expressing now are pretty much in keeping with what we were expressing during said game.
This game wasn't even close, a 2-1 defeat is a good result for us because it really could have been another thumping.
If close is the distance between Earth and Pluto, then yes it was close....how often do you see Ferguson disappointed he's won in a game against us?
The game was close in the sense the scoreline was never out of reach, if a split second bit of luck had gone our way maybe we could've got back into it, but that is irrelevant because we showed precious little to suggest we could trouble United and turn them into a bag of nerves, hence us eventually getting beat easily.
We were beaten by a side we know are better than us, I don't see much point in debating something trivial like to what extent were we beaten. No should give a damn because ultimatley Arsenal lost tamely at Old Trafford, again.

My point is had they played City and missed chances like they did, he'd have said the same thing, he was dissapointed they missed chances.Asked for his verdict on the game, Ferguson told Sky Sports 2HD: "I think I need to sleep on it, I could not believe the chances we missed.
"We should have put it to bed a long, long time ago and you look at that scoreline 2-1 and you think it was a close game, but it wasn't a close game.
"I think there was a lack of urgency in our game throughout, far too casual. It was an unusual Manchester United Arsenal game really.
They missed Chances thats their problem, maybe they have to work at things.
I never said anything about him not being disapointed they did not thrash us.
