this could be a stroke of genius or a disaster. for all he's worth and how much i hate that melted faced ****, he is a great man manager and what he's done at that club has been exceptional. to take them from relegation to top 4 and into the champions league (albeit not this year thanks to a fluke chelsea win) is quite admirable on their behalf. however, i can also see where levy is coming from; redknapp constantly said he would leave spurs if a bigger job like england came along, so there's nothing stopping him from leaving if a bigger team makes him an offer in the future. he isn't exactly the most loyal person and seems to be a money grabbing ****, so why take the risk and give him a new bumper contract, as well as autonomy over transfers, if he's going to leave in less than 24 months for a bigger job? you might as well get rid now, save the hassle and get in adequate replacement, someone who has long term vision. levy is no idiot but at the same time they've bitten the hand thats fed them. with some better players in the team harry really could have helped them push on next season and get into the top 3, but equally, if they bring in a top quality manager they will still be on the upwards rise.

the real problem lies in the demographics of the dressing room; many players are ageing, many are rumoured to be wanting champions league football so we can only assume they will be leaving. players are reported to be unhappy with redknapps sacking so i can only pray bale, modric, vaart all leave and vertonghen doesnt sign. spurs are also fucked in terms of backroom staff because they have people like les ferdinand, clive allen and tim sherwood in there, who without being too disrespectful have fuck all tactical knowledge and are just harry's mates. they need to shift the existing management as well as rebuild an ageing team, which will be very costly as a new manager will bring in his own staff. i sincerely hope they bring in someone like martinez because the only way they will be going is down. my fear is they will go for a step up, someone with european success, which may make them more of a threat next season.

SPURS PITCH RENEWAL CONTINUES: The pitch has now had all of its soil and sand base replaced and levelled out with laser guided machinery. Now a reinforced plastic mesh is being laid out (you can see one strip by the goal) to strengthen the grass when its is laid.

WTF? 'Arry is talking about taking four cabs last night and not one of them asked for a fare from him. He's ok with that because it shows people think he is a nice bloke.
