And this is the true evidence of a step change for us. BUT - and this is the crux of it - is where we are sufficient to make us title contenders? I reckon that most Gooners would accept the improvement that we have shown - given our stagnation over recent years - but is it enough to win anything against the resources of our competitors? Results like today's are pretty emphatic in their answer to that.

I think so because I think we are currently, I might well be proven to be emphatically wrong within a few weeks but as of now, we are still top - I concede that it's reasonable other people will have severe doubts of us but so long as that remains to be the case, I'll think of us as challenging for it. If it isn't the case we can compete with those resources and those resources are the difference, then what other option do we have in order to make challenging a reality?
