A third of a trillion pounds borrowed to fund the covid response. Common sense tells you where that burden is going to fall, considering fewer people will be in employment as a result of the war on small business. Wonder what our tax bills will look like a couple of years from now?

judging by the amount of joy-riding and overt drug-dealing around my area i don't think we actually have any police to worry about tbh...

That's one of about 12 units/ organisations already in operation under the umbrella of the National Security Council and the Cabinet Office. Current estimates are some 20,000 individuals are now active, drawn from the ranks of the SS, SIS, GCHQ, 77th Brigade, 13th Signals, Rapid Response Unit, Fake News Unit (this is real, not some joke), and others. All ready to be further empowered by the HARMS Act so they can save people from any unhelpful information they may find online, in print, on the TV or delivered by any other means. Key individuals in government will determine what information is helpful or unhelpful. This goes way beyond censorship on social media. This is total information awareness but for the UK. And it dovetails into the EU agencies as well.

We're going to be so safe it won't be worth saying anything.

They're not bothered by that shit. The anti-social louts know the cops by name and vice versa. Be careful though, don't protest too loudly or you'll get arrested.

Remember the arguments for austerity? How the ruling classes would have loved to fund health and education etc, but there just wasn't the cash to do it? So sad. We all had to pull together.

Now they say hundreds of billions can be borrowed on the back of a smashed economy AND we can afford maybe a trillion quid more to fund Boris' great green vision for the future, which is essential spending because "the science" and "the models". But we still can't have health and education because, sorry, hard times. So sad.

Global track and trace, vaccines for the healthy, digital ID, multi-departmental security state, expensive new cars that demand a huge surge in energy requirements, lots of low efficiency windmills and solar panels, space rockets to fight cyberwar, a new global taxation system.

It's almost as if we never left the EU at all.

But at least we get Netflix and Amazon as the payoff. People will have to judge for themselves if it's worth it.
