Not really, if he did well we'd have the fill the gap he left behind thus effectively weakening our team again.

I'd rather not have a player than have one that does really well for one season and makes us regret we didn't sign him permanently.

Come next summer there might be somebody else available. Personally I don't think he'll be featuring for Real Madrid much in any case, especially if they do get Modric.
