Has Arsene ever done this in his Arsenal career?

Ah - but why don't you look at how much profit Atletico have re-invested into the club - isn't that the principal purpose of a football club?

Also this is interesting in a couple of ways. A) in that Kroenke has started to exert some authority and B) how Wenger might react to that.

His autonomy (according to the AST) under the previous regime was virtually complete. Wasn't one of the reasons he rebuffed Real Madrid down to the lack of control/board interference he might experience there?

If Kronkers starts throwing his weight around, Wenger might review his job options.
well if what that article says is true, it appears to have taken place after he made that statement, he's the ultimate company man anyway so no surprise he keeps face.

I think most managers would find it difficult to head to a place like madrid after the relative freedom of the prem, the majority of the clubs here are structured differently than the other euro leagues.

I doubt most mangers in the epl would turn down Real Madrid though.

And yes Arshavin's fitness is and always has been an issue - and bears out what I am saying in this regards.

Clutch at as many straws as you like - but signing Jadson to replace Fabregas is like someone used to dining on prime steak then settling for KFC. Both perform a function but there can be no doubt that the former is better.
I'm not comparing the leagues at all. I just think it's silly to turn our noses up at player because he comes from a certain league when that team beat us in the CL, went further than us in the compitition and have won more honours than us over the past 6 years.

Where was Vidic and Hernandez before Man Utd? Shevechenko before Milan? Falcao before Porto? Tevez before coming to the Premier League?

You can find class players from different leagues that are able to adapt. Eduardo would have been a class player for us if he hadn't have broken his leg and he came for the Croatian league. He had a good goal scoring record for club and country. If we don't think he's the right player for us, I would rather you said you've seen him play and he's not the right type for us or he's too old. You can't hold the league he plays in against him.

I get what your saying, after selling two big names, we should go out and get two big names, but that's never going to happen. If that's not an option, I don't mid Wenger doing what he used to do and finding gems that nobody has paid attention to. It might not fill the fans with confidence, but once the players see a class signing training with them on the pitch, we'll at least get a change in attitude from the players.
