Although a bit worrying that the Paulista hasn't played an international for Brazil yet when they are reknowned for the quality defenders. But I read somewhere that Villareal hadn't lost for 20 games or something so must be doing something right I guess.
Apparently the work permit rules are going to change from the summer, and if you spend over £10m then a player will be subject to different rules.

Wouldn't look too much into it. We all know Scolari was a complete donkey when it came to team selection .... persisting with Fred, not calling up the likes of Coutinho, Lucas Moura, Miranda etc and making idiots like David Luiz central to his plans. Favoritism was a major factor in Brazil's teams under Scolari.

Normally I would prefer Reid but tbh I haven't seen Paulista enough and his recent achievement with Villareal is very impressive to say the least. Looks like he has far more potential and is a couple of years younger to boot. Quite happy though am ever so slightly perturbed that no one else seems to be interested though that obviously isn't always a valid issue (see Kos).

our 3rd choice CBs down the years included Cygan, Senderos, Djourou, Upson, Grimandi,Luzhniy, Stepanovs etc.
