Well there is that. Liverpool had only won two games fewer than Newcastle in the league since they lost at Anfield!

Newcastle are a decent side and are clearly going to win a title within next five years (which is regrettable because of the dirty Saudi money)

But I do like the way they play at times, and Eddie Howe has done a fantastic job and for me should be the next England head coach.

Liverpool are in a transition phase, was up in Liverpool just under a week ago and was chatting to a cabbie who was saying that the replacement of ageing players should have started earlier. But he can’t complain because he still thinks it’s the best Liverpool side he remembers seeing (in his early thirties so probably doesn’t remember the Barnes, Rush and Aldridge team)
