Arsenal misfit Marouane Chamakh could be in line for a shock move to north London rivals Tottenham.
Andre Villas-Boas is desperate to bolster his strikeforce before the end of the month as he has just one recognised senior striker in Jermain Defoe.
And Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger left Moroccan striker Chamakh out of the squad to face Sunderland on Saturday as they try to set up a loan deal.
There have been several English clubs have enquired about his availability including Spurs and Everton while there has also been interest from Spain and Fiorentina have also tried to sign him.
If he were to move to Spurs then it would be a shock given their rivalry with Arsenal and Chamakh’s chequered career at the Emirates.
The Moroccan has struggled to make his mark in his time at Arsenal and has fallen out of favour and now Wenger is ready to offload him.
A loan deal is more likely because of his £60,000-a-week wages and Arsenal have struggled to find a suitor.
But Spurs are exploring options after their move for Emmanuel Adebayor has stalled.
That has left them looking at Chamakh and, while the deal has major obstacles to overcome and may not happen, that has not stopped Spurs enquiring.
Chamakh was one of the most sought after strikers in Europe when he joined Arsenal - with Liverpool also on his tail - and even though he has had an unhappy two years he will be keen to revive his career.
