We're going to court to challenge the limit on three concerts a year that can be hosted at the Emirates.

Good on the club I say. We need all the revenue we can generate to compete with the likes of the Petro clubs and Utd with their ridiculous commercial deals (£75 million a year from Addidas) and this is an easy way to go about doing this. Loan out one of our key assets (the stadium) when it's not in use.

And it's good to see that the executives have finally recongnised this:

Islington council need to FOAD about this. Would bring more money, business and jobs to the local area to get tens of thousands of people flocking to the area.

We can compete with them now but choose not to.Spending 35m in each of the last 2 years when we have 100m in the bank is not chelsea's city's or utd's fault. That lies with our manager .And dont come back with we dont need any more players because we all know we need a striker ,a defensive midfielder and strength in depth when the injuries hit in jan/feb.

Exactly what I think as well. Slimy cunts at Islington council want there cut to pay for the bonuses of senior council leaders.

Noise level? Give me a break. The concerts are on a Saturday evening and usually end by 10 pm latest. No actual reason why our request should be denied and if anything if Islington council actually had the interests of the local community they would be pleading for more gigs to be hosted and more money to be brought into the area. Instead they're more concerned about their own greedy little pay packets.

    No.

We can compete a lot better now thanks to the Puma and Emirates money and that's been reflected in the Ozil and Sanchez purchases but we still have a way to go to come close to the revenue levels that Madrid/Barca/United and Bayern achieve. And each of those clubs are continuing to increase theirs with massive bumper commercial deals (Adidas £75 million) that we can only look on enviously at right now.

Besides the "100 million in the bank" that's always trotted out has to include wages. World class players demand world class wages ..... you need to budget in total £70 million of Ozil if you include his 5 year contract. And given the fact that we don't have a sugar daddy to bail us out, it would be the height of stupidity to spend all our cash reserves in one go ......... we need to keep money behind in the case something goes wrong. We couldn't soak up a loss on the scale of Torres or Schvenckeo the same way the Chavs were able to through Roman pumping in more equity.

If we want to to continue to stay at the top of the chain and compete for the calibre of players like Ozil and Sanchez throughout the team it's imperative that we boost our revenues through any means possible and renting out the Emirates is a no brainer. It also may hopefully mean that club is less reliant on matchday income so season ticket prices can be frozen for a few years.

tl;dr version - They money is there but unlike certain other clubs, we have to spend it incredible wisely.

Eisfield sold to Fulham, didn't see that on coming tbh
Society is now one polished horde
Formed by two mighty tribes, the bores and the bored.

"After all, it was the Gunners’ goalkeeper who started the move that culminated in Thomas’ crowning glory. It was Lukic who, in injury time, decided to throw the ball out to Lee Dixon rather than lump it long..."

The premise of a big stadium generating money for the surrounding area is a criteria in which it is allowed and supported to be built in the first place so it is wholly reasonable and prudent that the club has taken this stance.

    @ Gallactico...

Not that I disagree with you assertion that a given budget includes wages.....However, I can't help but feel that if a player is sold.... let's say for 10 million?

The budget is let's say 70 million? Most people add the 10 million to the budget from the player sale and then argue it is now, 80 million. They do not add 10 million to the budget and the wages saved over the remaining duration of his contract which might make the budget 90 million rather than 80.

It is not a major issue, but I do think that if any stated budget includes wages, then it should be updated accordingly when we bring in a fee from a transfer AND the wages saved. I know the wages saved perhaps becomes an intangible as it is money saved rather than physically made, but in the act of balancing I do find it a little peculiar.

All these figures are generated by the media anyway, so they have just been plucked out of Martin Samuel's arse. Like anything plucked from Martin Samuel's arse, greet with disbelief and avoid like the plague.

Anybody else getting fed up with BT Sport's adverts all featuring Arsenal's humiliations last season?

Just make sure you find and watch pirated BT Sport feeds during the season. And give the links to your mates. I mean do that anyway regardless of the adverts.

I take solace in that they prompted me to pick up the phone and save myself £3 per month.
