The £1 was utterly ridiculous coming from a club that is already viewed as the biggest penny pinchers in the history of everything in the whole world ever. Wrong, the supposed clause (which we now know didn't exist) was any bid over £40 million, we're the ones that bid the extra £1, thus it was a ridiculous bid, as Cripps said usually a club will bid 40.1 million or something like that.
It was classless but not unexpected given that people like Kroenke and Gazidis only understand the financial 'bottom line' and nothing else.
