without doubt but do you think he would've been a hit signing with the fans here, given all the criticisms thrown at him - despite all his goals? i think the thought of a player not seeming to working his socks off would've led to the usual accusations and frustrations we've seen over the past few years.
Society is now one polished horde

"After all, it was the Gunners’ goalkeeper who started the move that culminated in Thomas’ crowning glory. It was Lukic who, in injury time, decided to throw the ball out to Lee Dixon rather than lump it long..."
@TT
I suppose that perception of him has never really bothered me but I guess it would be different if he played for us and I watched him closely for 90 mins every week. If he was combing in goals every other week though I doubt it would be mentioned too much.
In general I think Spurs and United fans both appreciated him for the right reasons.
I think his midfielder-like contribution is often overlooked when he's being ajudged. He might not put in a shit load of tackles, but he's a striker who'll score bucket loads and also a player who drops back deep enough on a regular to initiate or bridge an attack.
I would definitely like to get some stats on his passing rate and the areas of the pitch that he commands.
very good points to be fair. i wouldn't have been against him coming here because of his goal record but to me it didn't feel like a missed opportunity until he turned it on for fulham and that was when the media picked up on it too.
i have a soft spot for fulham so i'm not too pissed because its nice to see fans really appreciate a top tier, classy player and get them at their club instead of one of the big guns. bit tired of all the big guns hoovering up all the best talent, young and old, so its good to see. i think he relishes being the main man too, as we saw at spurs and leverkusen.
