Teams are a lot braver than they were before and they're stopping us from passing without having to kick us off the park. We haven't faced many teams that have tried to lock up shop or we've pinned back for long periods. So far, I can only think of West Ham, Newcastle and Stoke.
    I disagree.

Zagreb sat back all game, at times we only had the 2 CBs and Cech in our own half and that's why we got caught on the break in the first half. West Ham sat back too.

When you say i haven't seen teams sit back in a long time, you only have to stretch back to April when Swansea, Sunderland and some other team i cant remember came to the Emirates and sat back throughout the game.

I agree, we really should be beating them at home, whether we will remains to be seen.

Not confident at all about United and I won't be until we start to beat them with a degree of regularity. You can count on one hand the amount of times we've beaten them in the past 10 years, they always seem to be able to do us even when they're shite. Long overdue a good performance and 3 points against that horrible lot. Come on WUMger.

Leicester game has given us the shot in the arm we needed before going into the Manure game.....Alexis needed a goal, the fact he got three will do him no end of good.......

There is no way we should fear Utd......and three points should be the target.....it's a hard one to call whether they will come to play or park the bus because I never know what the hell their bloody manager is on about most if the time.....can see it being a physical game with Faillini flailing around as per.....

A player I am liking more and more is Vardy.....any thoughts.....I am obviously setting myself up here to receive a barrage of GW mantras that he is not Arsenal quality etc but hell for what is worth....

That’s not what I remember. Zagreb had 14 shots on our goal. That’s more than what we managed that game. From what I remember, our passing game was really poor and we just couldn’t get going. We gave the ball away cheaply. They didn’t play us off the park but it’s not as if they came to lock up shop and play for a draw. They were threatening at times. Defensively organised but still dangerous coming forward. It’s not the same as the ones where the team has no intention of attacking us and just get lucky hoofing it long or getting a goal from a set piece. What I see more of these days are teams being more organised defensively and willing to hit us on the counter.

Swansea took the game to us in their home tie last season and terrorised Chambers. It was almost 50/50 possession. When they came to the Emirates maybe they locked up shop but that isn’t the norm for them. Sunderland were fighting relegation towards the end of the season so that’s expected. But so far this season, we haven’t met many teams that have decided to park the bus all game. I also think that’s down to us not passing the ball that well and being sloppy. When we start to find our passing stride, that’s when teams start to cower and lock up shop.

I think Vardy is a skank trailer trash scumbag but would prefer him upfront to Giroud.

I think Vardy has similar attributes to Sanchez, good pace, works hard for the team. Doesn't stop running. Obviously not as skill, technique etc.

Still prefer to Giroud though. Hopefully Walcott can continue to play like this against teams who defend deep and don't quite leave as much space in behind.

You can use the same paragraph when it comes to playing all the top teams. Wenger's lack of tactical nous means we go into these games on the back foot as the opposition already know our line-up & how we'll play. If we take the lead in these games we revert to a defensive game that is not what we do or how we train, so inevitably we concede to either draw or lose these games.
United's weakness is their defence, so we need to press high up & we need to move the ball forward quicker getting Walcot & Sanchez in behind the full-backs. If we play usual tippy tappy in midfield they have the pace & quality upfront to punish us when we give away posession. Far better for Smalling to pick up our poor passes than it is to give Rooney the ball with Depay & Martial making the runs up top.

Yeah feel the same way. In theory we have more than enough quality to beat them but I fear we will play right into their hands.

Last season was a prime example, we lost at home to them and IMO it was the the worst United side I have seen to date in PL.

We don't even need to be that smart to beat them IMO, but I have this horrible feeling we will just pass it around without really troubling them.

They worry me with their counter attacks too because that's where they can and most likely will really hurt us.

I hope Arsene has them physically and mentally ready for Sunday because a defeat could really damage this team IMO.
