It was a complete brain fart but yes, 11 vs 11 and that is never happening.
Just give them a penalty, keep it 11 vs 11 and then we have a game and a good second half. Even if the sending off was technically right it's a bullshit rule. I'd suggest a penalty is a better "goal scoring opportunity" than being through with defenders closing in and the 'keeper coming at you.
