Likewise. Atleti getting their 10th and Real Madrid missing out on theirs would be brilliant.

Former Barca chief Joan Laporta has accused the current Barcelona hierarchy of having links to violent fan groups.

Laporta aired his views on the program Punto Pelota which aired on Thursday night.

The 50-year-old targeted president Sandro Rosell claiming he and the board have connections to football hooligans and want them to return to Camp Nou.

He said: “There is evidence that these gentlemen have links to those violent groups that are lurking, hidden, and ready to return to their evil ways.”

The Spanish politician, in a pointed attack, went on to say that Guardiola was forced out of the club and Tito Villanova’s appointment was a panic measure.

He continued: “The decision to appoint Tito Vilanova was one of fear and panic. Guardiola left because of a dereliction of duty on the part of the board as the president was hiding because he was only concerned with making a disgusting persecution of the previous directive.

“They [the present board] are devoted to lying and said that Barca would not exist without Qatar [the Foundation]. It’s all lies."

Laporta added that he is still a fan favourite with the Barcelona supporters and says they are asking him to run in the next presidential elections.

He claimed: “At the moment I’m in a period of reflection. If I’m thinking of returning then it is because the people ask me to."

Laporta did have time to talk about on the field matters too during the interview, commenting on Lionel Messi’s leadership skills, saying he was pivotal in getting Gerard Pique back to the Nou Camp.

He added: “Messi has a special way about him where he exercises leadership. He never imposes on anybody and the only thing I can remember is a comment about [Gerard] Pique when we told him we were going to get rid of Ronaldinho.

“Bring Pique, bring Pique! He really looked after me when we were in the youth team, he told me.”

They seem like a club with a hooligan element

Referee Mateu Lahoz has been punished by the Spanish Football Association (RFEF) for the "technical error" made during the recent La Liga match between Sevilla and Barcelona.

Barca came from behind to win 3-2 after Gary Medel was controversially given his marching orders for appearing to headbutt Cesc Fabregas, while Sevilla boss Michel was sent to the stands for protesting.

Lahoz also missed a handball by Thiago in the build-up to David Villa's winning goal.

The RFEF have deemed the expulsion of Medel unwarranted, given what took place during the player's confrontation with Fabregas.

"On one hand, there is no aggression in the strictest sense. It was a struggle between two rival players, who brought together their heads and it did not lead to a clearly violent event," the RFEF said in a statement.

"On the other side, the rival player has clearly exaggerated the effect of the struggle, feigning to have received a violent headbutt. Yet, Gary Medel was sent off as if he were guilty of a violent act. Consequently, a clear technical error is apparent as the facts of the case do not warrant the punishment given."

Lahoz will now serve a one-match suspension, with Clos Gomez taking his place in officiating the match between Real Madrid and Celta Vigo on October 20.
Nothing more needs to be said about why Barca have been so successful

Shows how good a manager Mourinho is to win La Liga so impressively last season when Real had all the refs against them willing for a Barca title win
