I enjoy man's hypocrisy --- and for that matter this forum.

What chelsea has done encapsulates the utter madness the game generates. I actually agree with the buck guy; what he describes is the hypocritical shit every football fan and club pretend is beneath them.

I am glad i don't take this sport so seriously anymore (mainly due to a hectic life).
buck said today that chelsea had no choice but to report it and he's right. not only do they have a legal duty to follow through any racial complaint but imagine if it had come out later they had pushed it away, right after the terry thing.

ramires is probably the least hated of all their squad; works his nuts off on the pitch, nothing outside the club and we wouldn't mind him wearing a red shirt at all - in fact, he'd be one of those 'acceptable' transfers, like campbell to arsenal from spurs, because he never comes across as a knob - his heart and mind doesn't seem interwoven into chelsea like a lampard, terry etc.

i think he genuinely believes he heard it but whether he's right or not is a different thing.

Not sure I remember the Campbell transfer being acceptable in some quarters. The death threats were a bit of a giveaway.

The complaint has already been made by some busybody at the black lawyers posse. The chavs therefore had some time to get the facts straight. Depends on who blurted the story to the press before those investigations took place. I hope Clattenberg takes whoever it was to the cleaners. Fact is, only an insane ref is going to say what was alleged. The chav hierarchy must have known this was bullshit from the get-go. It was a crappy way for them to proceed and of course they are going to be criticised for vindictiveness because that's exactly what it looks like. And surprise, surprise, first the Mata incident turns out to be a fantasy and now even the stupidly overcompensating politically correct coppers can't find anything to wring their insincere hands over. Somebody at the chavs needs to go down for this and it might as well be Buck.

Yesterday the police announced that they would not be continuing with their investigation into whether the Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg racially abused Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel during his side's game against Manchester United last month. Clattenburg, it appears, has escaped on the basis of a legal technicality. Namely, that there was no complaint submitted by any victim, there were no witnesses to the alleged incident, and there was no evidence any offence was committed.
I’m not a legal expert. But in my layman’s view, the absence of a complainant or a single witness or a single shred of evidence would seem to make this a fairly clear-cut case. Or non-case.
But not, it would seem, in the eyes of the Society of Black Lawyers. "It sounds remarkably like a football cover-up," the society's chairman Peter Herbert told BBC Radio 5 Live. "It sounds remarkably like the football industry wanted to have this issue swept under the carpet.” Well yes, it could sound like that. Or, alternatively, it could sound like Mark Clattenburg is wholly innocent, the victim of a grotesque slur on his character, and the Society of Black Lawyers are trying to milk this issue for all it’s worth. And on balance, I’m with Clattenburg.
Let’s recall how this alleged incident came to light. The game was 2-2, Clattenburg had already sent off Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, and had also just dismissed Fernando Torres. Five minutes later Javier Hernandez scored a controversial winner. Mikel remonstrated with Clattenburg and was himself booked.
After the game a number of Chelsea players and officials confronted Clattenburg in his dressing room, and claimed he had made racially offensive comments to both Mikel and another Chelsea player, Juan Mata. Chelsea subsequently submitted a formal complaint to the FA over the alleged incident.
No one except those on the pitch – or charged with investigating what happened on it – knows what took place. That includes me, and the Society of Black Lawyers. But what we do know is this.
The police have dropped their investigation, for the reasons outlined. Chelsea submitted a formal complaint to the FA, supported by a statement supplied by Mikel. That does not strike me as the actions of an individual or organisation seeking to “have this issue swept under the carpet”. We also know that whatever evidence Chelsea and Mikel have in their possession, it was not significant enough for them to want to share it with the police.
Chelsea have also confirmed they would not be submitting evidence in relation to the comments supposedly made to Juan Mata, because, again, there was no evidence to support them. Mata himself has confirmed he did not hear any derogatory comments, nor did he refer to any such incident when he wrote a lengthy blog post on the match a few hours after returning home. He has also stated that he is happy to co-operate with any investigation into the supposed incident.
Mark Clattenburg had been officiating in football for nearly 20 years. He has been a Premier League referee since 2004, and on the FIFA list since 2006. The Premier League confirmed to me that he has never, to their knowledge, faced any accusations relating to race at any point in his career.
At the time of the supposed incident Clattenburg was standing in front of 41,644 spectators. He was also wearing a microphone audible to at least three other match officials. The game was being televised on live television. TV pictures indicate there were several players, from both sides, in the immediate vicinity when the comments were supposedly made. If Clattenburg did chose to use a racial slur against Mikel, he must have done so in the knowledge he would be unlikely to get away with it undetected.
There is also the context of the complaint. “The key decisions from the referee today influenced the result," Chelsea manager Robert Di Matteo told Sky Sports after the match, "He sent off Fernando Torres and the third goal is offside – those things have clearly decided the game in the favour of our opposition.” When specifically asked about the allegations, Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said this to the Evening Standard: "We weren't interested in any confrontation with the referee or anybody else, had no thoughts of revenge on the referee. He made two obvious mistakes [sending Fernando Torres off and allowing Javier Hernandez's offside winner] which changed the tide. I felt we had the moral high ground, so I didn't really feel that bad about the defeat or have that feeling in my stomach.” In one breath Chelsea’s chairman says his club wasn’t interested in confrontation with Mark Clattenburg. Yet in the next both he and his manager claim Clattenburg cost them the match.
Now here’s Buck’s reasoning for why Chelsea did submit the complaint, “We were guided by obligations that are imposed by the Football Association and also as an employer … Misconduct is a defined term under the FA regulations and includes such racial behaviour. We also had to consider the Equality Act 2010, which imposes an obligation on an employer to take certain actions if an employee is subject to discrimination by third parties”. That Bruce Buck quoting the Equalities Act is the same Bruce Buck who currently employs John Terry.
Obviously we’ll have to wait for the outcome of the FA inquiry. But this is what I think.
I think Mark Clattenburg is totally innocent. Perhaps John Obi Mikel misheard his comments. Perhaps he was encouraged by third parties in his belief Clattenburg had racially abused him. Either way I agree with Sir Alex Ferguson when he said “I don’t believe Mark Clattenburg would make any comments like that. I refuse to believe it. It’s unthinkable. In the modern climate, I just don’t believe it. Simple as that”.
I also think Chelsea are a football club totally out of control. Their internal management processes have clearly collapsed. They are being run by a combination of arrogance, self-pity and self-indulgence that starts with the owner, and cascades down.
If the FA find Mark Clattenburg did racially abuse John Obi Mikel, I’ll hold my hands up. But if they don’t, then Chelsea Football Club, and those individuals involved in propagating the allegation, should face their own investigation. And if they are shown to have acted maliciously the club should face relegation and those responsible for perpetrating the false allegation the same sanction Clattenburg would have faced if Clattenburg had been found guilty.
Sorry if that sounds a draconian sanction. But a man’s livelihood – no, his whole life – could have been destroyed by this.
If Mark Clattenburg is acquitted, Chelsea Football Club should find themselves in the dock. Perhaps they could get the Society of Black Lawyers to represent them.

Whole thing has been stupid from the beginning. Racism will always exist in football thats the sad reality. I do agree if the fa don't find evidence then Chavs should be punished for making that complaint to the fa.

Had they not, none of this would have gone to the police.

Fernando Torres is facing the embarrassment of being axed for Chelsea's crucial Champions League clash against Juventus as it emerges he wants to move back to Spain.

Sportsmail exclusively revealed last week how Blues owner Roman Abramovich has accepted his £50million gamble on the Spain international has failed and was ready to move the striker out of Stamford Bridge.

And Torres has his heart set on a return to Spain as he looks to recapture the form that made him one of the most feared strikers in the world.
The idea of having the Chelsea failure on his CV certainly irks the ex-Liverpool striker, but he has privately accepted he must leave west London, with Spain his preferred destination.

Potentially, Torres could return to Atletico Madrid as part of Chelsea's move to sign Radamel Falcao.

Torres' disastrous spell at Stamford Bridge plummeted further on Saturday after putting in another lacklustre display in the 2-1 defeat against West Bromwich.

And Roberto Di Matteo is today giving serious consideration to dropping the club's record signing for the trip to Turin.

Last week, Di Matteo admitted any manager would love to have Falcao in his team as Chelsea step up their interest in the Atletico striker.

Abramovich is ready to concede his £50m gamble on Torres has failed and the Blues owner will make funds available for Di Matteo.

Manchester City and Real Madrid are also interested in the 26-year-old Falcao, who scored a stunning hat-trick against Chelsea in the European Super Cup.

On Friday, Di Matteo said: 'Falcao is one of the best strikers, probably, in European and world football. His ratio of goals per game is quite impressive not just this season but over the last three years, at Porto and Atletico Madrid. If you ask any manager, he'd have him in his team.

'I know the window's nearing and there'll be a lot of speculation for our club, but whatever we do we'll keep it behind closed doors.'

Roberto Di Matteo is fighting to save his job only six months after lifting the European Cup.

His Chelsea team have won just three of their last seven games, and defeat against Juventus in Turin on Tuesday would put their Champions League campaign in serious jeopardy.

After starting the season so well, Chelsea's campaign is in danger of falling apart, causing owner Roman Abramovich to lose his patience.
He is not alone. Goalkeeper Petr Cech was at the centre of a heated dressing-room row following Saturday's 2-1 defeat at West Bromwich.

After their game with Juve, Di Matteo's side face Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

These are vital matches for Di Matteo, with Abramovich aware that former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola wants to work at Chelsea when he returns to management next summer.

Cech was furious after Chelsea's poor defensive display left them four points behind Manchester City.

Amid a flurry of expletives, another voice screamed that the display was 'rubbish - and you all know it'.

Other comments that were overheard included the barb: 'Call yourself Champions League winners?' as passions spilled over.

Di Matteo was calmness personified in front of the media a few moments later but back in the dressing room, he too had stomped around in a fashion that was seldom witnessed when he was in charge of West Bromwich.

Chelsea defender David Luiz was surely among those chastised by his colleagues, particularly over the embarrassing lack of discipline in his game.

However, he at least had the good grace to admit what went on, saying: 'We were upset, it is normal. We are disappointed as we should have won this game.'
Asked whether the cacophony of raised voices was the standard reaction, he added: 'Of course it's normal. This is a big club and you cannot lose games.'

The failings in Chelsea's defence are now painfully apparent every time captain John Terry is absent.

They miss not just his quality but his organisational ability, and have conceded an average of two goals in every game without him this season.

'Of course we miss him,' said Di Matteo. 'He's an important player. He gives us confidence at the back - and to the team in general.'

Di Matteo has promised to wield the axe for the Juventus game. Judged on their performances on Saturday alone, defender Luiz and misfiring striker Fernando Torres must be in line for a very public chop. 'It's not just an individual issue,' said the manager.

'As a team we have to defend better. You don't defend with one, you defend with the whole team.'

I wouldn't be surprised if he went back to Atleti but it would also suck as their chances of getting Falcao increase a lot.
