I dont really follow womens tennis. When did she retire this time?

Last week there was a little discussion on ESPN about how badly the U.S. scene is at the moment. If you take out the William sisters, there are no champion quality U.S. tennis players.

Venus has not really been champion quality outside of Wimbledon for the last ten years either!

It's quite worrying for the game in general to not have some big US players. None of the youngsters coming through look like anything special. Their top men (Roddick, Fish, Querrey, Isner) are all one-dimensional too.

At least Raonic looks like a genuinely good prospect for Canada! Shame he got injured here.

He's definitely dangerous on grass, but Murray usually handles big-servers and left-handers (apart from Nadal of course) pretty well.
