The shit German with 75 appearances for Germany and you'd rather have an English bloke who can't even get into the England side most of the time.
And frankly, England are shit. He's played for Villa and Bolton and been on loan at Burnley and Sheffield Utd. Strangely the cream of European football haven't been clamouring for his signing. He's 25, not some kid, if he was that special a better side than Bolton would have bought him by now.

to fork out 20mil for Jagielka or 17 for a player that we could sign next season on a free would be wrong. Mertesacker has 75 caps for the German team, and we all saw how better than the English one is in the 2010 WC. I'd love England to win the WC even though I'm Italian but British players are very much overrated in England and not rated abroad.

Take Theo. You'd sell him for 30mil in the PL but in Italy, Spain or Germany teams would offer no more than 12-15mil for him.

Parker is there to be nicked off the spuds, CL footie being the lure so we'd win that one and piss 'arry off in the process. JW and Parker, makes a lot of sense. The guy brings as much commitment as Jack, knows the league, would be cheap, don't know why it wasn't done weeks ago. Some sort of football snobbery going on probably.

I think Mertesacker is probably twice the player Cahill is. Cahill has done essentially fuck all except managing to be decent in a shit side and being indigenous. Why isn't he starting for England? England as a team is far more rubbish than Germany. Makes no sense to me.

I'm taking a wild stab here but is it 'cos our media massively over-hype them and they're not actually that good?
Plus there's the 'home grown' rule.

You could also say Chelsea have won it with Lampard and Terry but not much else, English wise. Granted they spent a shedload on other players then.

Anyway, realistically winning the title is not our target at the moment. In theory it is but with such a huge turnover of personnel, it's pretty damn hard to recover it all in one season.
