That's true, I used to will him on as he made his runs or was in the right place at the right time, only for him to fluff his shot or whatever, again. I gave up with the willing on in the end.

well perhaps a bit exaggerated but he certainly could have been an exponentially better player, to paraphrase the wizard of oz song "if he only had a brain"

I presumed you reference about our ghels bullying him was actually to do with his intelligence and not his lack of it on filed.......at least that is how you presented it.
I have no idea of the quality of his mental abilities off the field, maybe they were referring to what he was like off the field who knows.
Hard to know footballers aren't always the brightest of sparks and that's something that's never changed, I just think of the Graham Taylor England squad of 1990-1993 and it was a team of men who seemed to have learning difficulties.
