    This is a retirement package. He's 29. Has just won the league and been in the form of his life. He's about to represent his country in the Euros. He's in dreamland. He never expected this for his career and nobody else did either. That's why I worry. He could retire a happy man right now. So I really don't know of he's going to arrive at Arsenal with that same hunger. If he turns up with a 'just happy to be here' attitude and can't believing his luck, all star struck, I can't see us getting much out of this move.

    I would prefer a younger player and someone that has time to get over that sophomore jinx. Vardy isn't a rookie but the way he's burst on to the scene because of last season makes it seem so.
    He doesn't strike me as the kind of player that would lose his hunger. He's always going to be that run himself into the ground, kick, claw and scratch kind of player. His desire isn't the concern for me it's just whether last season was a fluke or not in terms of his flawless finishing.

    It's a left field move for sure but lets face it, we're never going to find a striker that gets 100% fan approval. I've seen people on here poo-poo Benzema, Higuaín and others with a far bigger pedigree than Vardy.

    Vardy would not have been my choice either but I'm just happy we want to take a chance on someone for the here and now, rather than buy someone with the caveat of "settling in" etc.

    If it's good enough for Wenger, it's good enough for me. Arsenal want it done before Sunday. #Vardy #afc

    @AFCAMDEN
    I've been told Vardy wants to come. Badly.

    @AFCAMDEN
    Also told Arsenal interested in left back Rodriguez but not advanced. Also depends on outgoing. Liverpool interested in Gibbs. #afc #lfc

    Hang on, it's not that black and white. Yes it's good Wenger is being proactive in the transfer market but it's not unfair to question whether it's the right move. That doesn't run alongside the same Axis as Wenger in/Wenger out. Just chatting with a guy on Twitter who is infuriatingly smug Wenger can do no wrong type but he is not sure at all about Vardy, where as someone like Pete Wood (Le Grove) who is definitely a Wenger out thinks it's a good move.

    Why do we always do this, sign these middle of road players, problem with Vardy is a) his age and b) the fact he's really only done it for one season and at his age that would point to a one off season for a team who produced a miracle, not to mention the fact that pace is the 1st thing to go when you get into your 30's and that would be his main weapon gone.

    Very much reminds me of Wellbeck another guy I didn't want here and it's turned out he's not pulled out any trees and really has shown that as we knew his finishing is wayward.

    Almost every single time we make these odd signings rather than going for someone who is a better fit, I agree with HCZ if he was yuonger then I'd be much happier, but at his age I feel it's the wrong signing.

    IMO the reason Wenger has gone for him is due to the cost, he's not too expensive and Wenger just loves these kinda signings.

    Gibbs? I've read that a few times. Isn't he always injured?

    I'll be honest I don't think I've ever paid much attention to him. What are his strengths? Defending or going forward?

    Not absolutely sure this one is for real. Im secretly hoping this is just a stratagem to get Real Madrid to reduce the ask on Morata. Him for 30m or Vardy for 20m. Easy choice.
    Either way it spells the end for Walcott. If he doesnt leave then he is more brainless than everyone says.

    Falling down when put under pressure, Clichy`s replacement in every way.

    Confirmed that deal agreed between Vardy & Arsenal, just paperwork & medical to complete. Should be done today & tomorrow. #afc #lcfc

    I've usually got no problem getting behind any player that puts on an Arsenal shirt but if this happens it is going to be a difficult one.
