Well Bayern gave us a pretty hard time in 2013, last year the match swung by the sending off though. We couldn't get near Barca for patches either but at least we fought back to get results.

This is something that happens with routine when PL teams face the elite, always one step behind. BLitW.

Yes we did concede posession because those teams play keep ball much better than us but we werent scared or intimidated and got goals on every occasion, esp at home. I think these last two barcelona games against City say a lot more about Pellegrini than anything else, he is a fraud and not one for the big occasions. (his record against barca is something like played 16, lost 12 and won 4).

First game against Barca we got schooled at home, we didn't touch the ball for 25 minutes or so and they missed a host of chances, then they beat us 4-0 at the Nou Camp.

2nd game was more competitive, though they again schooled us in the 1st half and missed a lot of chances.

Bayern game was odd, we got battered in the 1st game and then in the 2nd game Bayern played like the tie was won and we got two goals (never really threatend to win it after that though).

After we scord the 2nd don't think we had a shot, but even before that at no point did you feel like we would turn it around and win the tie.

I never felt we'd win the tie but you always roll this out as a criticism. We scored the 2nd goal in something like the 88th minute. So no, we didn't do much after that.
Had it been like the Stoke game where we got it back to 3-2 with 20 minutes left then it would be a fairly valid criticism. But we didn't, so it isn't.

88th minute or not, still think there was about 5-6 minutes after that where we could have thrown the kitchen sink at them, but we didn't. Like you siad though we never looked capable of winning the tie, the game was a strange one in any case, Bayern didn't play at all.

It was almost disgraceful how Barca just let Citeh off the hook yesterday. They do seem to have a habit of storming out of the blocks and then letting opponents back in CL games, but it looked as if they didn't give a fuck about extending their lead when the opportunity to do so kept presenting itself. Even when Citeh were down to ten, Messi decided to play like a moran. That was a 0-4 game at half time and probably a 1-6 at least overall, but somehow Citeh are only one goal behind. There's probably something in the Messi-led anti-Enrique rebellion. They were playing unprofessional beach football when basic passing and finishing could have led to a simple and untroubled passage through to the next round already.

Also, Kompany . Just a terrible defender.

Zabaleta has been poor recently too. And still Sagan can't get games.

And Fernando, one of the Oafs Of The Round Pub Table, up against Iniesta, Rakitic and Messi was just ridiculous.

Nasri well and truly hauled off after his Billy Big Bollocks interview pre-match.

    Citeh .

The first leg result certainly affected the 2nd leg, we caught them cold and gave them a real scare when we got the 2nd goal.
Realistically had we got it 20 minutes earlier I guess Bayern would most likely have woken up and we wouldn't have gone through anyway but it was a good confidence boosting win at the time.
