Afcamden has some pretty solid contacts at the club:
Management team are working on an exit strategy for Wenger this summer - regardless of the outcome of this season. Joachim Löw is 1st choice and has been lined up to replace Arsène, after the World Cup. #afc #dfb #öö

Low wouldn't necessarily be my first choice but he would do a far better job.
Our staff has been slowly turned into Germans - Per, Sven, Jens. Maybe that is the club laying the groundwork, also could be why Ozil decided to stay?

Low's a bit risky considering he's been stuck in international football for so long which is a completely different kettle of fish to club football but I'd still fucking take him and be cautiously excited about it (assuming there's some truth behind it) if anything just for the chance to get rid of the old dinosaur and try something new for a change.

Either way, if the first part is true and this is the last 4 months that we have to endure under the Wenger era, then - HAPPY FUCKING DAYS!!![]()
Seems unlikely to me, not unlikely that people would be making that move but unlikely Wenger will go in the summer.....Kroenke won’t push him out. The rumours of Ancelotti and now Low suggests that a PR battle of sorts is being waged.
There are downsides to Low, his age, his revolting personal habits and his lack of experience in club football. However he has more or less single handedly modernised German football. I love the way the Germans play and I think with him there’d be a good chance of nothing else of totally reorganising our youth system.
It's still more unlikely than likely at this stage but it's a lot more possible than at any time in Wenger's tenure.
57 isn't that old?
And I couldn't care less if Low pissed his pants on the touchline during every game as long as we won the league. :ippy:
The last point I agree with though. Looking at our squad and the state Wenger has it in, we need a total rebuild job and given Low's rebuild job with Germany, turning them from a real low point back in 2006 to the world champions not soon thereafter, he seems ideal. In that regard, he's probably a more suitable appointment than Ancelotti who generally excels at getting the best out of a good squad already present.
Trouble is, most of the great managers that we could get in are all old now.
There's a couple of up and coming managers that are younger but no one really stands out. Low would be able to manage 4-6 seasons, depending on how well he does. That could be enough to turn the footballing fortunes of the club around and deliver success on the pitch. Also, as you say, it could also mean we get a solid youth system up and running rather than the current profit making youth setup we have.
Either way, Wenker and the club are going to find it very difficult at the end of the season, to justify him seeing out the remainder of his contract. Maybe Ivan & co. are trying to avoid a public stoning and have convinced the old goat that his time is up?
Wenger's age in itself isn't the problem. It's his stubbornness and refusal to adapt to modern football, ridgely sticking to ideals and methods that may have worked in the past but are outdated now.
Look at Ferguson, he was constantly able to adapt over his tenure resulting in all those trophies even as he got to the end of his shelf life. Also Jupp Heynckes to quote another example.
