    I mean, obviously that’s bollocks.
Off the top of my head Ryan Giggs against us in the Cup when he literally had an empty net to roll the ball in to and smashed it over the bar.
But it was a bad one. You might want to hit the target from there, fella
He’s clearly lacking confidence. The fact he passed to Odegaard rather than shooting for our first goal showed that. Arguably the right decision but an Ian Wright isn’t passing there.
I’m glad he scored, and it was a good goal. He does work hard but he’s not clinical.

Very happy for him that he got his goal, he’s normally reserved with his celebrations but you can tell what it meant to him. Can’t knock his work rate and the fact he’s always available, showing for the ball and looking to make something happen.

He just isn’t a confident finisher though and shooting wide from that chance with so much time and the goal to aim for was horribly poor, at least hit the bloody target and if it’s cleared off the line so be it. Thankfully it didn’t matter on this occasion but you can almost guarantee that it will happen again and will eventually cost us if it hasn’t already.

Yeah. This sort of thing has cost us before, it will do again.
It didn't yesterday and for now let's just enjoy the moment. We're clearly not going to sign a clinical striker. It will almost certainly cost us the title but for now we're clinging desperately to Liverpool's coattails. Need Everton to us a favour this week to put them under a bit of pressure.

Didn't Kluivert miss an open goal against Liverpool the other day?

Yeah, and that Wolves striker missed a sitter yesterday. It happens. But it doesn't always cost the result. Undoubtedly the lack of a dedicated striker has cost us points this season. And Havertz has been the man on the spot more than once, so it stands out. Odegard has missed a few too. We've definitely been wasteful in front of goal, and we can't afford to be given the number of games where we've been less than direct.

plus with Jesus out (who admittedly can't score against anyone except Crystal Palace in any case), there's no back up for Havertz so he's doing too many minutes

I'm sure everyone can point to misses that were worse than that and it obviously wasn't meant to be taken literally.

However I am glad you can make the reply as I am pretty sure if we'd lost or dropped points in the game you ( or anyone else ) would be unable to (especially seeing as their striker took his only chance which was far more difficult).

I do agree with most of the conclusions on your post though and my opinion on the opening goal was ( and still is) that passing to Odegaard reduced the XG and a proper forward looking for a first goal in a crucial match never does that in a million years (and yes I know Henry & Wright are supporting him on that now, but they would have crucified him if the defender had been successful in impeding Odegaard).

Anyway, one thing for sure is we'll keep discussing Havertz ability ( and decision making ) a lot more now thanks largely to Arteta's negligence with the transfer windows.

Caution, caution and more caution, thats the story of our season.

Liverpool are winning this league because they weren't fixated by Citeh, and obviously have played without the handbrake all season.
    Somewhat belatedly, I agree
