It's that age old subject of unpredictability again, whereas Liverpool can upset the odds and beat top teams and their fans can believe they have a chance of winning the CL in the last decade that's never been the case for us, we make up the numbers, turn up get to the last 16 then get beaten, there's never any belief we'll do better.

Why is that though? The players probably don't believe it, we're never setup to win matches against big teams over two legs, the reality is we have an inferiority complex which Wenger has instilled in us, the fact we can't defend for toffee means we know we can't grind out a result, the fact we struggle to create against the better sides also puts doubt in our heads.

For me there's one constant, Wenger in all the time we've been in the CL, even with our best sides we've failed, clearly something isn't right and it boils down the manager, a guy who let's face it has an appaulling record in Europe.

When you see Liverpool and how the have progressed, can't help but feel that could have been us, it what we could have been had we got rid of Wenger years ago, instead we're left with this sorry state of affairs where we're also rans, play boring football and are miles behind the top sides, the decline is complete.

Klopp has taken a man for man inferior team to City's and got them to really compete against them. What more can you ask for? He's had his problems defensively but he is clearly setting out to address that with Van Dijk and Keita.

He's taken a seemingly unspectacular but functional midfield and got them to best Cities twice now. When he took over they were 8th and now they are third and in CL semi's. I'm increasingly impressed with what he's doing.
