Lot of pressure on that penalty, bit different to the average penalty. as you said he's a great player, his performances back that up a matchwinner in every season and i'd argue better than Messi based on the fact he's performed at the highest level.

Not one of the "news"papers mentions the disgusting tactics of Madrid. All those toads like Owen are going on about how marvellous Penaldo was for stepping up and converting their ill-gotten penalty (how many is that now btw?)

Juve were great in those final minutes. A stream of Madrid scumbags were heading into their box with one intention in mind, and until the last kick Juve managed to resist the horrendous, cynical cheating bastards. The ridiculous Penaldo was throwing himself all over the place. One pathetic effort sticks in the mind where he launched himself into the air and flopped to the deck because his opponent managed to beat him to a header. Arseholio was the same. We see it from these bastards every time they need a goal. Outplayed, outthought, outfought and well whipped on their own patch, but not embarrassed because they don't have enough shame in them. So they resorted to doing what they do best. Heading into that box for their Shakespearian performances, one by one. The ref was technically within his rights to give a pen, although he should have taken the blatant dive into account and waved it away. He was within his rights to send Buffon off, although he should have taken into account the magnitude of Madrid's cheating and how it might affect the victims. But he was not within his rights to ignore Madrid's blatant cynicism. He should have been brandishing yellows and reds all over the place for the despicable playacting. Instead he stood by and watched the inevitable unfold, and now he'll fall back on technicalities and absolve himself for being the fool who played right into scumbag Madrid's ploy.

And so the hypemasters in the media are off on another Penaldo wank. Sickening, and one of the reasons why fans who remember real football are becoming so disillusioned.

tbf, Penaldo has enough experience of dodgy pens in the last few minutes by now. It's second nature for him to be the glory milking turd on the spot - first nature in fact. He's a good enough player to just play the game and leave out that bag of cynical shit he drags with hime everywhere he goes. Same with Messi, another cheating shitbag. But the media feeds on hype and this homo scumbag is the biggest hype of all. Untouchable, unless it's Beckham getting the red. Then the media cries a bit.

To be honest Ronaldo has proved himself, he's was amazing at Man U and took it to another level at Real, he knocked us out of the CL one year with a sensational free kick, the guy is unplayable at his best there's no denying that.

Yes these players simulate, but most footballers do, including some of ours, it's part and parcel of the game now and is that arrived into the English game many years ago now.

For me it doesn't detract from the fact he's an amazing footballer who has dragged his teams to victory countless times (including his international team), the amount of goals he scores at all levels can't be disuputed either, he's scored in every CL game this season, noone else has managed that.

Personally think that when players become this good, they are automatically disliked by opposition fans, people don't like players that are too good unless they play for their team.

Buffon

I like him but this is such a dumb narrative. Just because it was in the last minute the ref isn't meant to give a pelanty when there's a clear foul in the box because you can't spoil the "comeback story". Or because of your legendary status in the game you get to act like a scrote without any consequences. Yeah fuck off with that shit.

I'm probably in the minority here but in hindsight I thought the whole situation was excellent referring by Michael Oliver. Had the cajones () to make the right call despite knowing the abuse he would get for doing it and stuck to his guns.

England's best ref since Clattenburg fucked off to Saudi Arabia for the money.

It's from 12 yards away. It's 8 yards wide. They have zero excuse to miss at all and I'm struggling to believe a professional footballers can't aim to within a square yard from that distance on a fairly consistent basis.

Top players are arrogant, Henry was, Maradona, Ibra, was it's no uncommon really, I can accept that when they're top top class to some extent, it's when they're middle of the road and arrogant it's more irritating.

As I said simulation is part and parcel of the game, blame the authorities for that, as for the shirt incident, when you've scored a goal it's not unusual to celebrate in a unique way, players try to think of new ways all the time and when you score the winning in such big games you're probably very pumped.

tbh Ronaldo's entitled to act arrogant & smug ..... he's earned the right with how good he is. It's not a Bendtner situation.

It's the diving and shithousery during a game that he should avoid .... he really doesn't need to engage in it.

It's from 12 yards away. It's 8 yards wide. They have zero excuse to miss at all and I'm struggling to believe a professional footballers can't aim to within a square yard from that distance on a fairly consistent basis.
They don't even have to hit it that hard. Just lop it into the top corner, no 'keeper is saving that.

lol there are things called pressure, emotion and tension .... all of which humans are susceptible to. Not to mention unlike say a Basketball free throw, you have an opposing player stood in front of you trying to put you off which enters into your mind.

Not to mention those sort of penalties into the top corner are high risk, high reward. They're very difficult to achieve in practice ..... it's very small margins. Even the slightest over hit and the ball goes blazing over the bar and you look like a fool. I suppose the thinking that if you at least ensure you hit the target you always have a chance of scoring.

Since when was Henry arrogant?!?

Ronaldo takes cheating and diving to the next level, most footballers might try it on once or twice in a game if they are really lucky, but last night he spent 45 mins diving every time he got within a foot of the ball.

I'm sure you appreciated his 'unique celebration' and spent some time with it on pause.......in the toilet......

Yes, BUT...they are professional footballers. They practice for hours almost every day.
How small is the treble 20 on a dartboard? Darts players can hit it with unerring regularity, is this really that different? Is it really such a difficult skill?
Yes, there's pressure but if you're good enough at a certain skill then you can do it under pressure.
I have more sympathy for strikers who have a split second to take a shot with the goal-keeper advancing and defenders sliding in and the ball moving...but a set piece with a still ball? Come on!
Maybe pinging it into the top corner every time is unrealistic, but they should be better than they are IMO.

I absolutely love Henry but he was pretty arrogant tbf, but I think players at that level have a certain right to be.
BUT, there are ways of doing it and I don't think Henry was ever the posing, preening, cheating, odious little cunt that Ronaldo is.
Plenty of players swagger in a way which makes opposition fans grudgingly respect them.
I don't know how I'd have felt about Henry were I not an Arsenal fan but I think apart from real knuckle draggers he was fairly well admired in the game.

Well that's what I meant. Henry may have had a confident swagger about him, but I certainly wouldn't call him arrogant in the same sentence as Ronaldo & Maradonna

Ronaldo is no worse a diver than anyone else really. He’s heavily disliked because he makes everything about himself but even by doing that he still manages to haul Real Madrid to success. I don’t mind it because he has the honours to make any criticisim of his play moot. Then there are of course Messi fanboys who will cry about anything he achieves but what those people say is often shrouded in bitterness. Likewise for the ones who pine for Ronaldo and won’t hear a bad word said about him even though he is obviously a cunt.

Absolutely right. 45 minutes of trying to find the angle to get a penalty or an opponents sent off, rather than play football and try to win the match legitimately. Then, to add the salt, he's there to take the penalty with the last kick of the game after yet another Madrid dive in the box.

Shocking shit. The opposite of football. But the pundits seem to love it. Maybe the bloke has a big cock or something, and they just can't get enough of it.

Oliver Holt, our moral compass.

It's almost too hard to put up with these pathetic excuses for journalists (and human beings) any longer.

Yes, yes, as sport goes, Buffon was way out of line. But how does he get to that level of rage in the first place? It's the institutionalised cheating which is rapidly becoming the main deciding factor in the game. Cheating players (including Buffon), cheating refs, cheating owners, cheating gamblers, cheating football authorities. It's all as cynical as hell - Christiano Ronaldo being the poster boy for that cynicism. A hateful, despicable, deplorable scumbag who also happens to be one of the world's best football players.

Oh wait!

So Ronaldo's fame buys him a free pass, but Buffon's does not? Is that how you are playing it, Oliver Holt? Hypocrite. Fuckwit extraordinaire.

Get the cynical cheating out of the game and that will lower the emotional excess and restore the sporting tradition. But he won't write about or push for that because he LOVES the fact Buffon went off the deep end. Gives the tired old hack something to copy and paste. Much easier than doing a real job.

If Roma can survive Klopp's heavy metal early in the second half, they might get a foothold.

If Egypt can get their second best player - Elneny - fit again, they might have a chance at the World Cup.

They already know they can rely on their best player, Hegazi.

I'm telling you Tuchel > Klopp.
.
 Totally unfounded, one turned Dortmund into a force, the other well....he inherited a great team and achieved nothing and got sacked.

Roma started off solid but then they were losing 2-0 at HT which must have been hard to take.

However their tactics have been rubbish, almost arsenal like. They look like they have never seen Liverpool play at Anfield.

The ages of Pool's front three are 26, 26 & 25 FFS.

We've got years left to experience this I'm afraid. :upset:

Fantastic squad building from Liverpool.

This was always going to happen, Roma were never a match for Liverpool, this however is embarrassing, but then other than Juve and Napoli the Italian league is rubbish, final should be more interesting.

All they had to do was bunker down, keep it tight and hope to nick an away goal on the counter - worst case scenario only lose by two. Just don't give space for Liverpool to run into. They literally did the opposite of that.

I'm convinced no one did any scouting of Liverpool.

If Roma hadn't played like brainless morans for the first 75 mins of this game and only attacked in the last ten then they could have very easily come away with a victory tonight.

If Tuchel was manager when Klopp was he would have won a lot more at Dortmund tbh.

Can’t see Roma doing the impossible twice.

Hopefully Ronaldo has one last CL in him to stop them. Although saying that Bayern’s slightly more pragmatic approach might be better equipped to deal with Liverpool.
