Glad people are starting to see kos is better than vermalean. He carries that boy at times.
yeah its not as if RVP scored a winner against liverpool, equaliser against the scum, barca last year. yeah hes fucking awful, sell the ****,
fucking proud of the lads last night, almost did it, we gave a performance, beat milan 3-0, thats massive, last three games, we have won when no one said we would. fuck fourth, i want third
Unfortunately, in a dynamic attacking unit last night (Rosicky, Walcott, Oxlade, Van Persie), Gervinho stuck out like a sore thumb. Lots of instances where he immediately looked for Gibbs on the overlap rather than try something himself. Doubt there is much scope for improvement as he is not particularly physically or technically gifted, allied with the cojones aspect.
Disappointing how he has turned out. This season’s Chamakh. I guess it says it all that in the final of a major international tournament, Gervinho - a forward - wouldn’t put himself forward to take a penalty before defenders and kids. He showed little initiative last night.
RvP did what he's been doing all season, kept his nerve in a split second incident and tried to apply the technique required to do the job right. If it's arrogant not to panic then I hope his arrogance swells as the season moves into the critical stages. The keeper did very well to keep that out. Pure instinct by RvP matched by pure instinct from their keeper, this time it didn't work out for RvP (unlike 35 other occasions that jave kept us out of the relegation zone).
When I watched him step up to take the biggest penalty of our season so far I knew for a fact I would have bottled that and I bet a ton of professional footballers would have too. RvP was ice cool and gave the keeper no chance - even though that scandalous cheating ref was trying to put him off.
Bergkamp missed that penalty against Utd that could have changed anything. Henry missed that chance against Barcelona. RvP misses against Milan. These are all big misses that reduce the status of these players by a tiny, tiny fraction compared to what they gave back and continue to give back to the club. If anyone is allowed one error it's RvP, the best striker in the world (no hyperbole required because it's a fact), a great captain and hopefully an Arsenal player for years to come.
If their is any criticism it should be directed towards the rest of the team. Why does RvP have to do it all? Where are the rest of them?
Wenger got his tactics spot on last night too. He changed his philosophy, kicked his stubbornness into touch and almost pulled off what everyone said couldn't be done. Credit has to go to him too, no matter how you feel about him or his future at the club. In the middle of an awful season there are some very positive developments at Arsenal and the way we fought smart and dominated Milan last night is an indication of that. I had no hope for the run in to this season. Now I have some. It's great, I thought the season was dead but far from it.
